Large / Sam’s Club Christmas set?
October 16, 2023, 06:37:47 PM
Hey Bachmann,
I know it is wishful thinking, but will Bachmann have any special large scale train sets for Sam's or other big box stores this year?

Large / Mylocosound and Bachmann new 4-6-0 Board
July 20, 2021, 03:14:39 PM
Friends,
I have the mylocosound connected to the spider board for the new Bachmann 4-6-0. With dummy board loco runs fine. With the sound system plugged in, nothing. I am using track power. I have connected motor + and motor - ,  2 speaker wires, and chuff wire according to diagram provided by sound system company on page 3 and another diagram provided shows chuff wire connection. Do I need to connect power + and - in same connection as motor? There is a B+ a Gnd, a R and L wires on the spider board. Please advise.

Friends,
With the new 4-6-0 currently shipping from dealers, what sound systems are currently on the market that will fit the Bachmann PNP socket? Any suggestions appreciated. Also, any experiences (good or bad) with these PNP sound systems.

Large / Passenger Cars for New 4-6-0
February 19, 2021, 03:03:27 PM
Hey Bach-Man,
With the new 4-6-0 coming out with TWO D&RGW paint schemes, how about re-releasing the yellow/silver passenger cars (including baggage and observation) to go with them.  They would be basic reissue, so shouldn't be that much work involved. Just a suggestion:)

Hello Mr. Bach Man,
As we move CLOSER to Spring, can you give us any updates on the new 4-6-0? When we may expect it to arrive in hobby shops, new photos, etc. Getting exited!

Hey Bach Man,
Tell us, or even better, show us the new 4-6-0 on the TrainWorld Virtual Train Show Wednesday @ 6:00pm. I plan to watch. Maybe introduce a few surprises for us large scale narrow gauge folks as well.

Large / Adding Kadee to front of 4-6-0 Annie
November 05, 2020, 04:43:27 PM
Friends,
Thinking of trying to add a Kadee 781 or 1781 to front of Annie Bumble Bee and RGS locomotives. Anyone done this? Difficult? Using Bachmann Spectrum cars and Accucraft cars, so which coupler would be best? Thanks for any info.

Mr. Bach Man,
With Covid, lots of people have extra time on their hands and may want to decorate a little more this year. That large scale train under the tree could be just the thing! Sam's or other big box stores could carry them. Any news on releases from these folks involving Bachmann sets?

Large / New 4-6-0
August 27, 2020, 04:12:42 PM
Mr. Bach-Man,
The Bachmann Facebook page has a photo of Rio Grande 4-6-0 (from a distance). Cant tell much about the tender. Anyway, can you show us the new product? Give us details of new tender tooling? I have to say, if the paint scheme is the one in the photo and on Bachmann's web page, I am disappointed! The white pin stripe is still on the cab and domes, and no black stripe on the bumble Bee cab. Hopefully that can change before the production run. Looking forward to actual photo and details!

Large / Old Decals?
May 12, 2020, 09:50:13 AM
 Friends,
I have a set of old decals. I have used one decal from the sheet and it came apart. Any ideas on how to save them to make then usable? I am using them to reletter the Annie from RGS #25 to RGS #20, so basically just using the numbers.

Large / How to remove cab from an Annie?
May 01, 2020, 10:43:08 AM
Friends,
I am working on making a Rio Grande Southern #20 4-6-0 locomotive from a Rio Grande Southern #25 Annie. I want to replace the original steel type cab with a wood style cab. Any instructions or hints on how to remove/replace the locomotive cab? Thank you in advance.

Large / 2020 Big Hauler Upgrades and New Paint
February 20, 2020, 10:55:20 AM
Hey Mr. Bach Man,
I see the new for 2019 announce Big Hauler upgrades are listed in the 2020 catalogue with suggested retail prices. Seems that would indicate there is some possibilities for 2020! Can you shed any new info, photos, etc? I know I am puss
hing my luck, but with RGS 20 and D&RG 168 steaming this year, those would be EXCELLENT paint additions to the line.

Large / More road name repaint request
July 05, 2019, 01:42:24 PM
Bach Man,
Thank you again for coming out with the new Rio Grande paint schemes later this year or early next. Another suggestion. With the rebuilds in Colorado/New Mexico of the RGS #20 and D&RGW #168, these would be VERY popular repaints in matching paint schemes for the actual rebuilt locos. Should be pretty simple to put wood style cab on the current RGS #25 loco and change number to 20 and change the number to 168 on the current wood cab style D&RGW 4-6-0 loco. Many people like to run what the can see in real life and with these locomotive becoming active in tourist service in 2019 and 2020, this should sell well.

Large / 'New' center cupola D&RGW Caboose?
March 07, 2019, 08:13:03 PM
Bach-Man,
Any info on the large scale center cupola D&RGW caboose in the 2019 catalogue? It is #93803 and is listed as 'New'. It looks just like an older version. It does state that the image is just an illustration. Letr us know more when available, especially what might be 'New' about it.

Large / 2018 NGRC preconvention tours
May 08, 2018, 07:38:59 AM
 Friends,
Our chairman stated lots of emails are bouncing back as he attempts to send out the pre/post tour info. If you have not gotten the information in the next few days, feel free to email me (address on convention contact page) and I will be glad to send it to you ASAP
Also note that there is no official live steam track at the convention center, but two layouts are operating live steam (one on Wednesday NOT ON BUS TOUR, and one on Friday that is on at least one of the buses scheduled stops. The Friday layout will be open on Sunday, June 10 for those that want to bring small live steamers to run -tight curves prevent large locos).

Large / 2018 National Garden Railroad Convention
January 02, 2018, 07:32:08 PM
Friends,
Just an update on the 2018 convention in Atlanta this June. See ad on page 59 in the February Garden Railways magazine. Pre-tours on June 3, with layouts in Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina for those driving down the major interstate highways and some in Georgia for those coming into town early. The Monday & Tuesday special train rides are about 1/3 sold out as of January 1 (we expect registrations to pick up over the next month or so) so don't be left out, reserve your seats on the train soon. Dealer hall is about 60% full at this time as well. Approximately 30 garden railroads will be open for tours Wednesday through Saturday (self drive or you can ride a bus to many of these) and about 20 more open for pre/post tours on Sunday before and after the event. Atlanta Braves have a home game on Sunday, June 3 and they play just across the interstate (with pedestrian bridge) from the convention center. There are only a few of the special Hartland 'General' show locomotives left, so get one of those in the next few days if you want one. June will be a good time to be in Atlanta if you enjoy the hobby of garden railroading! See www.NGRC2018.com for full registration information.

Large / New 'Annie' paint suggestion
November 23, 2017, 07:16:04 AM
Mr. Bachmann,
See http://ngdiscussion.net/phorum/read.php?1,339976 for photo of what might make a good paint scheme for the 'Annie'. This is sister locomotive to #168 that is currently being restored to operation by the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Either of these road numbers, or both, would be a welcome addition, especially since the #168 is coming back into service and could prove a popular model.
Happy Rails To You,
Ted
P.S.-still waiting and eagerly anticipating 'Annie' repaints with the 'Flying Grande' and 'Moffit Tunnel' heralds!
