General Discussion / Bachmann Motorized Turntable
October 30, 2020, 10:32:03 AM
for DCC operation, the instructions say to remove the supplied 8-pin dummy plug - what plug is it? the black one or the green one? - both the black plug and the green plug are on the "motherboard" - the diagram on the instructions are not clear enough for me - I already have the EZ Command Control Center controller, and installed per their instructions, but cannot get it going

my DCC loco stopped communicating with the DCC controller... what's up? ...  I get sound from the engine, but no bells & whistles, and no movement either forward or backwards... the loco has Econami Sound Value...

General Discussion / NCE Power Cab throttle issues
February 25, 2019, 10:23:10 AM
the issue I have with the Power Cab is initially, for speed, it gave my even increments of 4 for the "increase fast and /decrease fast" speed buttons, and also "increase/decrease" of 1 each time you hit it for the other 2 buttons, and the speed wheel in the middle of these 2 sets of buttons  -  now, I got 3 locos running, and they all give me that 1 "increase/decrease", and the 4 "increase/decrease", with a maximum of 28 - next time I use the Power Cab, out of the blue, and with me giving no further input, the locos starting running even increments of 10, with a maximum of 126 - I preferred this, but the damn Cab goes back to "1 and 4, with a max of 28" on it's own - it has gone back and forth a few times now - the locos still operate fine under either speed settings, but I prefer to stay at the "10, max 126" specs -

N / Short occurs in turnout track
February 02, 2019, 07:46:07 AM
when my loco crosses over the "frog" in the turnout track, sometimes in stops and needs a little push to get going again - the wheel of the loco must be "pushing" off the track, I guess - is there a solution to this without having to "nudge: the train to get going again?

General Discussion / DCC Controller problems
January 02, 2019, 06:42:24 AM
Recently, my Bachmann EZ DCC Command controller stopped working - the digital locos will produce sound and the lights work, but the locos will not run, either in reverse or forward - it is not the case of having the wrong address, because as I test each loco individually (there are 5), I first choose the appropriate address for each one, then select the Function key, then test it's lights and sound - each of the 5 work for light & sound, but none of them run - I first removed all but 1 of the locos to see if maybe there was an "overload", but that individual loco (proper address selected) did not run, just lights & sound - any ideas?

N / NCE Snap It
December 20, 2018, 09:00:22 AM
I'm using a Bachmann EZ Track system - my 4x 8 layout has 8 turnouts, and I throw each switch using those small black boxes, powered by it's own Bachmann analog controller (power goes directly to the 1st switch box, and the other 7 switch boxes are linked to this 1st box) - works out great in conjunction with the Bachmann DCC controller that runs the 3 DCC engines and 1 analog (with the F10 key) engine

I'm thinking of using the NCE Power Cab with the NCE Snap It Quad - it looks like I will only be able to use the Snap It to control 4 of the 8 switches, is that right?  can I tie 2 Snap It together to run 8 switches?

how is this accomplished? - it has the default air horn (both Long and Short), but how to I choose another horn?

the track switches are not DDC switches - must use the analog 'Plug and Play' controller in conjuction with the DCC EZ command controller center - the 'Plug and Play' controller ONLY has the red power line going to the switches and NOT the red power line to the track - and the DCC EZ command controller center DOES has the red power line to the track - I am NOT using the DDC switch track sections - any help?

after using the EZ Track layout ( N scale) for about a month with no problems, my track only goes in one direction now... don't understand why?... it's not the engine either, because all engines only go in one direction on this EZ Track layout... when I slide the switch over to go the other way, the engine just dies... also, on another EZ Track layout, all engines work as designed, both forward and reverse, so it's something to do with THIS track... my Plug 'N Play controller is the type with the 2 red wires coming out of it to power my switches on the track (all switches are working fine)... I have swapped out controllers, tried different engines, unplugged and re - plugged the power from the outlet to the controller, tested other N scale track layouts... but I'm at a loss... any help would be appreciated...

both of these switches do not work properly all the time - my cars with longer wheel bases work the best, but there are times these fail too  - the short wheel based Santa Fe locomotive rarely works on these crossovers  - speed of the train do not solve the problem either - medium fast or super slow (it does not matter), the success of the train to cross over is not always successful - there are times the train goes around OK, but then on it's 3 or 4th pass, the crossover fails - any ideas or suggestions? - I have a 5' straight track between the left and right crossovers
