N / F9 drive issue
February 13, 2016, 11:06:57 AM
OK as per my other thread I have a F9 locomotive with a stripped drive that made pressing my 2-8-0 into service necessary. I've looked at the parts diagram on this site and the parts that are needed on my F9 are the white plastic worm gears. Part # 9903. I've talked to Bachmann and parts aren't available separately you have to buy the whole truck assy part# 9906. Unfortunately they aren't in stock and no delivery date known so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a aftermarket source for the 2 plastic worm gears Bach man uses in their F9's ? thanks in advance

N / Spectrum 2-8-0 problems
February 13, 2016, 10:04:28 AM
My mother in law bought me a nice Spectrum 2-8-0 a couple years ago.
Its a real nice looking loco but didn't " fit in" on my layout so after a very brief test run she's been sitting on my display shelf.
This past week my main diesel loco (f7) stripped a gear so I figured why not and swapped in the Consolidation in its place.
I wish I had run it more when there was warranty on it as its got a couple of problems.
1. The lead 2wheel truck on left hand radius turn s touches the front frame and sparks are the result. To avoid this temporarily I've removed the lead truck.
2. However the loco when navigating left turns only allows the front right driver wheel to climb up and over the rail sometimes causing a derailment.
She runs fine straight, turning right and backing up, but won't turn left to save her life.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance

General Discussion / E-Z command loco. addresses
June 10, 2010, 08:56:54 PM
I was wondering if anyone knows what address corresponds to the numbers on the e-z command controller?
If I program a locomotive to button #1 and button #8 on my e-z command and later take my locomotives to a friends layout that uses MRC's prodigy advanced 2  what addresses are they? What do Bachmann's loco  buttons correspond to on other systems is what I want to know,I think.
Thanks for any replies.

General Discussion / Connecting wire for dc/dcc
August 16, 2008, 08:57:53 PM
This may be a stupid question but:
I am thinking about getting a e-z command and using a dc and dcc loco with it.(because I have several dc locos)
The online manual says to hook up the analog control pack to the dcc controller with a "Black connecting wire".
Where do you get this wire? Does the e-z command come with one in the set?
Thanks

General Discussion / EZ-command question
August 14, 2008, 10:51:55 AM
I've been considering buying a Bachmann EZ command for my 4x8 home layout.
I'm presently running DC with 2 Bachmann controllers.(seperate block wiring)
My daughter and I like to run trains together so a DCC system with 2 throttles/controllers would be a big plus.
I see the ez command also has a walk around companion controller available but that would basically double the cost of this system.
Would it be feasable to use the ez command with the dc controller to control one of our dc locomotives along with the ez command system?
What would the advantages/disadvantages be using the dc controller instead of laying out the money for the walk around companion unit?
Thanks for any advice opinions.

HO / New steamer want advice
December 22, 2007, 10:47:51 AM
Hi all. I've been thinking about getting a new steam loco for my HO 4x8
layout and can't decide between 2 Bachmann loco's.
I was going to pick up a Spectrum 2-8-0 based on the rave reviews they get for their good detailing and fantastic running capability.
Then I saw that Bachmann came out with a Berkshire loco.
My daughter who just turned 13 likes that one alot because of (what else) the polar express.
The Berk. isn't a Spectrum though and its more cash than the 2-8-0.
Is the Berkshire close enough in running quality to the 2-8-0 that its worth the extra cash or should I stick with the Spectrum?
Anyone running the Berkshire yet and if so whats your opinion of it?
Thanks for your time, and Merry Christmas!
Eric
