Has anyone got any experiences with this place. I'm thinking of placing an order, but I don't really like surprises. How long to ship? Items ok? Customer service quality? Those kinds of things. Thanks in advance for any help you may give.

Have any of you seen the ads for this "book" from Model railroader?
It advertises "Modeling the Railroad Town of Steubenville, Ohio"

Huh?

That's where I live. I never knew I lived in a "railroad town." Sure the Norfolk Southern tracks are less than 400 feet from my back door, and there is a yard on the outskirts of town. But never thought of it as a railroad town.

Anyway...if any of you decide to try this and need some photos, just let me know and I will be happy to snap 'em!

General Discussion / DCC Booster
April 25, 2008, 05:52:26 PM
I am getting to the point where I think a booster will be necessary for my layout. What do you fine train-folk think of the boosters offered by CVP? A 5A system for less than $100 sounds good. But will it work with my EZ Command?

HO / Scratch building
April 18, 2008, 04:04:08 PM
Here is the beginning of my first attempt at scratchbuilding. This is going to be a municipal building. I intend for it look like poured concrete. It's made from styrene yard sale signs from Family Dollar and some windows and doors from my parts bin.

If you are looking for ads for billboards or whatever for your period layout, this site http://library.duke.edu/digitalcollections/adaccess/browse/ has ads dating back to 1911. It covers everything from cosmetics to airlines.

April 11, 2008, 06:14:05 PM
hey everyone:

Here is a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SepDHdXc3dAto video I shot today of my layout.

The video shows a consist of two Sante Fe F units pulling a cut of cars around the layout in my "train-room" The layout is an L shape using two 4x8 sheets of MDF. It sits 48" off the floor. I am using the Bachmann Ez-Command DCC system. Any comments are welcome.

HO / First HO layout since I was 13
January 06, 2008, 09:08:08 AM
Folks,
Here are some pics of the first layout I've done since I was 13. I'm 39 now. Had a Lionel running under the Christmas tree, but this is the first actual layout. It's 4' x 8' (for now) Two loops, out loop has passing siding. It's DCC. And I know that the Chessie and SF would never run together, but I'm just getting started. Any comments are welcome. I'm very intertested in how to model realistic asphalt streets. Again, thanks for looking!
