HO / A few questions about DCC and a Spectrum loco
March 23, 2008, 08:08:41 AM
Ok. I have a few questions about things dealing with a Digitrax DCC Zephyr System that I'm going to be getting in the near future, then one with a Spectrum GP-30 that I bought.

DCC:

1) Does the Zephyr controller have sound? I think I saw a bell button on one.
2) When you turn the throttle on one engine, then switch to another engine, if you leave the throttle at the same spot, will the new loco go that speed instantly?
3) Will Kadee uncoupling magnets work with the Zephyr?

GP-30

1) What kind of Kadee couplers should I put on it to make it look like the coupler isn't a billion feet long? I put a #156 and it looked like it was sticking out too far.

Thanks in advance!  ;)

HO / Coupler types-a-thousand...
March 14, 2008, 06:35:16 PM
A while ago I started replacing the horn-hook couplers on my dad's rolling stock that he found at his parent's house with knuckle couplers. I first started replacing them with McHenry's, then I got some kits that had Bachmann E-Z Mate's, and I recently got Kadee #5's to go on a Chessie hopper kit. If I want to place uncoupling magnets on my layout, will having all these different couplers work with it if it's a Kadee magnet? Would it help in general if I put all Kadee couplers on them?

Thanks in advance!   :)

Thomas & Friends / Easy Thomas Model Projects
January 22, 2008, 04:50:32 PM
I am looking for easy Thomas modeling projects such as detailing engines and freight cars, building buildings, ect. If you have any detailing projects/improvements for Emily, Henry, Annie, Clarabel, or Troublesome Truck #1, then tell me because these are the only Thomas HO items I have at the moment. Thanks in advance!

HO / Wiring help with an Atlas layout
January 21, 2008, 02:30:33 PM
I have the book The Atlas Beginner's Guide to HO Model Railroading, and I built layout #06 from it. I kind of changed the sidings in the middle around a bit, but I kept the terminal track where it should be. The link for it is http://www.atlasrr.com/Code100web/pages/10006.htm. I need help wiring it. I don't get how to. I am using DC and have all the required parts but when I wire a section of track it doesn't work. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Thomas & Friends / Question About Emily
January 20, 2008, 05:02:52 PM
I just got Emily from my hobby shop ( :)) and on the thing in the back that shows the different Thomas models there was a sticker that said, "Warning. This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm." Why would it have this? When I got my Henry model it didn't have that on it. Is it just something random put there by accident, or do other people have it on there's too?

Thomas & Friends / Detailing Projects
January 19, 2008, 07:41:49 AM
I have Henry, Annie, Clarabel, Troublesome Truck #1, and I'm about to get Emily. I want them to look more detailed like the ones from the show. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to them?

P.S. I'm going to get Modelflex paint. Does anyone know the color that would be the same as the buffers, or at least real close?)
