N / Heavy Mountain
December 08, 2008, 12:04:53 PM
If there is to be another run of the Heavy Mountain, Bachmann should consider running B&O as a road name. Also Boston and Maine, as they each ran over 50 mountains, many of which were the same heavy mountains (B&O purchased them in 1952).
There is a lack of B&O steam out there... an even greater lack of prototypical B&O steam.
There has to be a market out there!

N / Heavy 4-8-2 in DC mode
November 25, 2008, 01:45:22 PM
I received a replacement heavy 4-8-2 today, as my initial loco "melted down" running DC. I had read that this DCC equiped loco would run on a standard DC layout without problem... but after about a week, the loco started stuttering, there was an all-to-realistic smoke in the air smell, and the tender deck melted!
Was this an isolated incident, or a result of running a DCC loco on DC track?
I'm a little nervous about repeating the meltdown!
Any one know?

N / N scale heavy Pacific (K4/P7)
March 13, 2008, 04:23:50 PM
I would love a good N scale Pacific... especially a Pensy K4 and a B&O P7. No one makes one! That particular style pacific (based on the ALCO 5000) is fairly widely used across the country, and could fit alot of different roads with very minor modifications.
Model power makes a light pacific... but it's just not the same!

...and the B&O 2-8-0 I have is the best running engine on my layout!
