Can any one tell me how to change to the new trucks on an early shay? The trucks don't come with instructions. Thanks in advance, Phil

After reading the review on 120 point me I could not ck mine fast enough.  I had 3 the same and 1 different. I found my little rc car wrench that fits this sort of thing and used it to spin the bolt out on the 1 that was different. once the bolt was out I was able to pull the crank off with my fingers and turn it 90 degrees to match the others and re install it.   After the bolt was back on and snugged up it looks like every thing is cool. test ran the engine , works fine [just like before]  this took about 2 min. Could have been done in 1 min. if I had known how simple it was.---Phil

Large / 2-6-6-2 crank bolts
January 04, 2009, 04:15:54 PM
After running about 5 hours on Sat. I re-checked the bolts and found them all to be tight. When I first recieved the engine most of them were loose and needed to be snugged down. I did not use any thread lock. good news for a change. Have fun ---Phil

Large / Aristo smoke unit mod ?
February 27, 2008, 09:54:36 PM
Has any one tryed to defeat the safety shut off circut in the aristo smoke unit? I get so tired of having to stop my K-27 [and others] to re start the smoke. If this could be done it sure would make running trains a lot more fun. Would just have to be very careful not to run out of smoke fluid. Might be wise to install a shut off switch. If I knew any thing about electronics I would rather modify the system to work more reliably. It sure is a neet smoker when it is running.

Has anyone changed to Kaydee couplers yet? I just wonder what coupler works?   They sure are nice cars. Can not wait to try them out. I am thinking they may be too heavy to run all 4 on much of a grade. Might have to sell 2 of them. My 4 ft. radius curves probably wont help either. Long time to spring. Too long!

Large / K27 squeek on curves
January 13, 2008, 09:32:24 AM
I am getting a squeek on curves that I can not locate the source of. This is on our club layout with 11& 12 ft diamiters. Has any one else had this? I am leaning towards blaming it on driver flange squeell. If that proves to be the source I am wondering what will happen this summer when I put it on my home layout with 8 ft curves.
