HO / Disassembly of Passenger Cars
August 06, 2020, 05:31:49 PM
I just picked up a couple of the new old-time passenger cars.  I want to put some seats and people inside and repaint the bodies.  Anyone taken one of them apart?  If so, any hints?  I looked in the Parts section of the home page and didn't see anything there for rolling stock, and there was no info in the boxes.

HO / New Decapod
February 05, 2020, 11:27:57 AM
I just picked up one of the updated Russians.  Have not had it out of the box yet, but wanted to know if anyone has run theirs and wondered if there were any special things to watch for.  I don't have DCC so I plan to take it to an operating session on a friend's layout next week, so I can get the decoder set up for the loco number and check for chuff sync with the drivers.  Any thoughts?

HO / Upgraded Russian Decopod
July 12, 2019, 01:33:33 PM
Well, the good news is the re-issue of the Decapod.  The bad news is the MSRP of $549.00.  Wonder if the tariff war has anything to do with the price jump?

HO / Climax Blues
January 02, 2018, 11:11:35 AM
After sitting on the shelf for most of the past year, I tried to fire up my 3-truck DCC Climax on the club pike.  It ran great when I first got it.  It ran about an inch forward and locked up.  Put it in reverse, same thing.  Looks like I've got a split gear in the drive train.  Any hope for repair/replacement at this point?

HO / New 2-8-2 CV's
November 13, 2015, 10:23:46 AM
Yardmaster - I can't seem to track down the CV's for the new USRA Mike.  I don't see the loco listed on the Soundtraxx board.  I'm planning to take the loco to a friend next weej to adjust the chuff rate and change the whistle, and need to know which CV's to adjust.

On30 / Fodder for a new loco

Take a look - a 2' gauge Garrett - would be a great On30 model that might even find a following here in the States:  http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=500458&nseq=3

General Discussion / Posting Photos
May 12, 2014, 01:31:12 PM
I know this has been dealt with in the past, but could someone please refresh me on posting photos.  I have established a Photobucket account, but I just can't remember how to post them in the message board.

Thanks.

HO / Peter Witt DCC vs DC
December 06, 2013, 03:21:21 PM
Yardmaster:  I have Peter Witt, which I have had programmed to run on DCC, and it runs well.  However, I now want to run it on the club pike which is planning to go to DCC but is currently DC and it won't budge, light up, or anything.  Do I need to take it apart and put in the dummy jumper to get it to run on DC?

HO / Trolleys and DCC
October 09, 2013, 05:22:58 PM
Has anyone tried running the Birney and/or Peter Witt on DCC powered by the overhead wire?  I've been working on installing a working trolley line on our club layout.  At the moment we are running it on straight DC off the rails while I get more of the overhead strung.  The plan is, once we get the two reverse loops working mechanically, is to go to DCC with the wire as one side and the track the other side of the circuit  Any need to consider changing out the trolley poles?  Are the trolley wheels sufficient to collect current from the wire reliably?  Any other pitfalls to look out for?

On30 / Auto-Reverse Trolley Adaptation
July 25, 2012, 01:34:52 PM
Anyone (maybe Mr. Yardmaster) know if the auto-reverse feature in the trolley set can be adapted to standard flex track?  Our club is putting in an HO trolley line, but we won't have the necessary reverse loops in place before our Christmas show.  We were wondering if we could adapt the electronics such that we could run the 12 feet or so of trolley track and use the Birney for the back and forth without constant supervision.  Thoughts?

On30 / On30 Climax
May 10, 2012, 01:21:42 PM
Yes, very late to the party but I've decided I want sound in my On30 Climax, now that I've wide-gauged it to On3.  I've done some looking at the Soundtraxx site without much help.  Anyone tell what I need and/or where to get it?  IIRC, the model has a board with the plug socket and the bridge wires, so I assume I need a decoder and speaker.

Is it still possible to get the sound unit for the On30 Climax?

HO / PC Board Ties
March 07, 2012, 01:48:06 PM
Anyone know if someone still makes printed circuit board ties?  I need some for a forthcoming trolley line.  I tried Googling, and didn't come up with anything useful.

On30 / Coal Mine Video - Taiwan
January 25, 2012, 08:27:50 PM
Guys:  Take a look at this video.  It shows a coal mine operation on Taiwan, but a lot of it could have been seen stateside back in the early part of the 20th century.  The gasoline critters are marvelous.  Certainly can give you some modeling ideas.
