General Discussion / 3D printing
June 04, 2016, 06:52:58 PM
Hello Mr bachmann.
Have the company though about making or using 3D printers and parts to make lovely trains. Figuring that the printer is a one time deal and then the cad program you can make anything without new tooling. Then the company can use there nice chassies and add new shells or detail parts.

HO / ho trains out side
March 12, 2015, 10:18:56 AM
My brother and I have been working on running our HO trains out side. I already have a loop of G scale track and were going to run the ho on the G ties. using peco track would that eventually rust or tarnish. We won't keep the trains out side but the track will stay. Figuring we don't have the space to run long trains indoors with a 4x6 layout, and I have 38 feet of track out side. We figured after finding several OO layout in England that are outdoors we would try the same but in Wisconsin.

Large / new scratch building project
May 19, 2014, 06:25:30 PM
I'm starting a new project after building the main body for a line of passenger cars. So now i'm going to put my hand at building a TMER&L steeple cab # L-8. The one part to this project that needs a little magic is the traction motors. There is a company that makes them but 75$ for one is not really in my budget. So i'm going to try making them with readily available parts. I will try posting pics for those that want to see.

HO / Intererban tracktion
January 09, 2014, 10:36:39 PM
Working at the East Troy Trolley Museum. I found a love for the south shore steel side rail cars.
These are really nice cars to work on (first hand experience) and would make interesting models.
The other cars that I love are L-8 center cab, work car D-23 and crane car L-6.

Thomas & Friends / Thomas narrow gauge engine ideas
July 16, 2013, 04:04:09 PM
My cousins love Thomas and friends but they also like narrow gauge. I know some costumers would like to see Skarloey and Rheneas, so this is my thinking. Bachmann has a good line of N and Ho scales. 2 foot narrow gauge is a easy thing to do with N scale track and half the size Ho body's. What you will get is Hon30 which is very close to 2 foot and 30 inch gauges.

Large / Scratch building Caboose
July 03, 2013, 02:11:52 PM
I have been working on a project for the last few weeks. It's a combination of SR&RL and Rio Grand caboose. Everything is scratch and no plans are used to make this project. Just pics and my mind.

Large / Large scale kits
June 20, 2013, 04:39:46 PM
Dear Mr Bachmann
I've just started getting back in to the hobby but know I've ran into a problem. The train car kits the company produced are no longer in print. There great for free lance modelers and detail freaks "like me". By any possibility would they come out again in a few years, or are they derailed with weeds and small trees growing around them. scratch building is something I don't really want to do because farm work leaves little time to do much.

HO / converting oil burning tender for coal burning
April 30, 2013, 02:06:58 PM
Recently A friend purchased a 2-10-0 with oil burning tender. He is modeling CNW and would like to convert the tender. Is there parts for that conversion that we can get or, was there any oil burners on the CNW with this wheel arrangement.

HO / ho conversion
September 11, 2012, 08:25:17 AM
I would like to convert a B&O EM1 to a DM&IR yellowstone. I know what to do but need to find parts for the conversion. I need a spare challenger tender, a cab with doors behind the windows with a slant in the front and pilot beam detail. I already have decales for the conversion. but would like some advise.
