HO / HO Peter Witt trolley dummy plug...
August 10, 2023, 03:34:56 PM
Hey out there! Does anyone on the forum have or know where I can get a DCC dummy plug for the 84606 Spectrum HO Peter Witt trolley? I just purchased one 2nd hand and it's missing the dummy plug. I run DC only and even though it runs with the DCC decoder installed, in my experience the DCC on Board decoders tend to have buzzy motor noise when running in DC mode.

Unless what I'm hearing is strictly gear noise, but I don't think so...

The Bachmann parts dept says they don't sell the dummy plugs and suggested asking on here.

Thank you for your assistance.

N / N scale GE 70 tonner- Rahway Valley RR.
September 06, 2017, 06:56:54 PM
I'd love to see Bachmann make Rahway Valley RR #16 and #17 GE 70 tonners in their awesome little N scale models. They had what I believe were GE factory-standard paint schemes. Anyone else?

On30 / 0-4-0 Porter w/ Backwoods Miniatures Kit
January 15, 2008, 11:50:40 PM
I finally decided to tackle a little project I've been putting off. It's adding a front-mounted winch and detail kit to one of my On30 0-4-0 Porters. It's a Backwoods Miniatures kit and there's quite a few pieces to assemble, all die-cast metal and etched brass stuff. The kit also adds quite a bit of weight to the loco for more pulling power. It took a few hours but the results are well worth it...

Here's the Porter w/ the added parts...

Here's the loco finished...

I have already installed DCC into this loco so this winch kit finishes this project off.

On30 / On30 4-4-0 Prototype...at least close...
January 14, 2008, 08:39:43 PM
I know the new On30 4-4-0 is based on the Mt. Gretna RR (Lebanon PA area) 2-foot gauge Baldwin catalog 4-4-0s, but here's a 3-foot gauge 4-4-0 I found that's fairly close...

This 4-4-0 was from the Waynesburg & Washington RR in SW Pennsylvania. It was built by the H.K. Porter company. I know there are differences, such as the bell position, dome style, etc, but the driver size, driver position and many other aspects are close. A W&W RR 4-4-0 could easily be made from one of the new B-mann models.

On30 / For the Bach-Man...On30 EZ-Track?
January 11, 2008, 07:34:52 PM
I know the idea of On30 was attractive to Bachmann so they could make narrow gauge O scale models that run on HO track, thus eliminating the need for a new track system. I also don't mind them making their models in On30 rather than On3, which really seems to irk some people I've spoken to(they argue about 3 foot gauge being the prominant narrow gauge in the US and not 30" gauge). I very much like On30 for the kitbashing possibilities being there are so many great HO mechanisms out there to use for a project w/o having to scatch-build the whole thing.

I was just wondering if Bachmann may ever consider making a line of On30 EZ-Track w/ all of the great features of their EZ-Track line, but w/ more prototypical tie length and spacing representing narrow gauge track? I know you can get prototypical On30 track and switches by companies such as Peco, Micro Engineering, etc, but I love track-and-roadbed systems such as EZ-Track. I don't mind the HO track at all, just wondering if this would ever be considered. You could even use the same rails as the HO track, you would just need the tooling for the roadbed/ track base.

Thank you...

On30 / On30 4-4-0- a little noisy
January 06, 2008, 07:09:34 PM
I have two of the new On30 4-4-0s. Both seem seem to have a little more (maybe gear) noise than most of my other Spectrum locos. One has a little more noise than the other. They both have Lenz Gold Series decoders installed in them. They have been lubed and greased. Will this noise fade as they break-in or is it a decoder setting I'm missing?

Bach-man, are we getting close to the delivery of the On30 4-4-0s? Any idea when they will arrive?

Maybe not as a Disney loco, but the same style loco...
