N / N&W 611 trouble
December 29, 2018, 11:18:19 PM
My 611 locomotive just stopped today with no warning or indications of any issues.  I have a tsunami 2-2 installed in the tender. First I suspected the decoder died or shorted.  After disconnecting the tender the decoder performed flawlessly.  So I switched the locomotives out with another J class I have to make sure it wasn't the engine. The other engine worked fine with the tender.

So i'm now trying to troubleshoot the faulty engine, the drivers don't seem to be bound up.  Is it the motor or the wiring harness going into the engine?  Anyone had any experience with these engines acting up?

The locomotive that won't run has the stiff wires running between the engine and tender. The other one has a different type of wiring that is much more flexible.  I don't know if the one type of wire is the issue over the other one.

I plan to repair the engine myself with parts from Bachmann.

N / looking for a specific Southern RR 2-8-0
May 07, 2012, 07:17:28 PM
Im looking for a specific bachmann Southern 2-8-0.  This one came in a spectrum set 6-7 years ago. Ive only seen 1 show up on eBay in as many years.  If anyone has one of these that is collecting dust and would like to part with it. I sure would like to get it.

The engine is a black 2-8-0 lettered for Southern's freight look.  The road number is 2506.  The lettering is in yellow gold.

Mr. Bachmann if you have any of these laying around in the parts dept that have been returned. Id be interested in that as well.

Thanks

N / 2-8-0 detail parts
January 22, 2011, 12:02:18 AM
Im in the middle of refurbishing and repainting my 6th 2-8-0.  I got this engine off of a friend that ran it for a while. It had some running gear issues and so forth so he didn't run it much.  Anyways back to the subject at hand. While working on the engine I noticed that one of the ladders is missing from the left side of the boiler. Its the ladder that runs from the smokebox to the pilot beam, that you have pop out to get the shell off.  Ive contacted Bachmann but for one but there is a bit of confusion in finding it and all that. So I thought I would post here and see if anyone might have kitbashed there 2-8-0's or have a parts engine that may have this part. If anyone has this part I would be willing to buy it off of you.  If you have a parts/drawing of the engine it is part *00F03 the right side is *00F04.

N / small USRA tenders
July 14, 2009, 09:53:37 PM
Ive been looking at ways to improve my 2-6-2 power pick-up and was curious if the newer tenders offered by bachmann have power pick up on all 4 axles or just the front like the previous verson. Also will these tenders couple to the engines without and modifications to the engine?

For the first time since the event started in 2005, Tweetsie will put the spotlight on engine #190   the "Yukon Queen"  #190 will be lettered USA as she was during her time on the White Pass and Yukon during WWII.

After the park closes there will be a photo run-by session with #190 and her original white pass and yukon whistle while pulling all the Tweetsie rolling stock including coach #5 on the rear. #12 will be featured in a solo photo run-by special in 2009.

N / question about the old F9
December 23, 2007, 02:20:16 AM
Ok guys,

I have got a set of F9 A units I bought in a set about 12 years ago, and I have finally gotten around to getting them running again after 10 years and have installed MT couplers. Although only one is powered.  I have been reading around on some websites and it seems like Bachmann has produced that model for a really long time now.  The engines i have are lettered for the Santa Fe, but i am looking to change them to Southern, and maybe even replicate the new NS F9's. Some of the steps have broken off of them over the years so im thinking about getting new shells, but i wasn't sure if they were still available or if anyone had some laying around they may not need.

Also did Bachmann ever produce this model in a Southern paint scheme?

If not Mr. Bachmann you might want to look into making a release of them with the new NS scheme, as no one else has yet in N Scale.

Merry Christmas

Tim

the last 50 years at Tweetsie.   The video is full of many  photos,
and some vintage film from the ET, Shenandoah and Tweetsie RR some
rarely seen before. DVD's can be purchased for $12.00 plus $3 for
shipping and handling.    If you have any questions or would like to
purchase a copy please contact me off the list at 12echoes@gmail.com

N / Need a 2-8-0 Tender
November 01, 2007, 11:41:38 PM
I recently purchased a 2-8-0 for parts off of ebay, and found out it actually runs real well...but it has no tender.  So im having to use another tender from one of my other good engines.  Can you purchase a new undec tender from bachmann, and while im asking can you also get the plastic case with insert to hold the engine.   If anyone has a spare tender or plastic box, let me know maybe willing to trade something for it or work out reasonable price.

N / service question
April 08, 2007, 08:49:53 PM
Im preparing to send a 2-8-0 locomotive to the service department.....and while im getting ready send i had a couple of questions before i send it.

1 Do i have to send the tender with the engine?

2 I have southern rwy version of a the 2-8-0 (this is not the one im sending) but it has a bell that is mounted on the front of the smokebox, i was curious as to if the service department had any smokebox fronts like this in stock, ive never seen another engine like this anywhere.

3 I have an old set of F-9's from the mid 1990's does bachmann still stock the old body shells for them.

Sorry to ask to many questions but i kinda like to kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone.

Thanks

N / adding weight to engines
February 26, 2007, 07:04:33 PM
i just bought a n scale 2-6-2 this weekend and i am looking to add some weight to it...i havent ever done this so im looking for any do's and donts.....im looking to place some lead into the sand domes on the engine to give it more traction.  I know not to short out the motor and stuff.  But how much is to much to add and has anyone attempted this and what were the results. I only paid 30 for the engine so if i burn it up im not out much.
