Williams by Bachmann / Old Williams C628 ALCO issue
January 27, 2013, 02:53:21 PM
Like mentioned in subject, the previous owner has done some things to it that I like and don't like. When I apply power, it starts in Neutral, pressing the direction button puts it into Reverse. I have to go throught the whole cycle to go Forward. What do I need to do to change this to start in forward as it should? Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / One Way Williams won't work!
November 21, 2012, 12:01:20 PM
I'm guessing that my E-unit has finally taken a dump as for the past couple years it would only work one way. When that happened I looked and there were no broken wires. I was running it last night when all of a sudden it stopped, triggering the direction button does nothing. The lights and the sound board are the only thing working. Ideas or thought's? Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / Old Williams Info needed
May 08, 2012, 02:43:57 PM
I scored a old Alco C628 #6701 a couple months ago that appears to have very little run time on it. With giving it a lube job it runs like a Williams should! Not knowing how many hands this has gone through, someone put a beacon on top of the cab. I think it's cool looking! But what I really want to know is what year/s did Williams produce this loco? Maybe 3 Rail can dig into the archives for me?? Here's a pic. Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / E unit Troubles
January 25, 2012, 07:51:49 PM
This is a dual motored unit, it will only run in reverse and will not run forward. Doing the sequence it goes thru the motions but won't power but the lights lite so I know there power there. Hope I don't need a new E-unit. Any ideas? Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / Dummy Upgrade Motor Problem
January 18, 2012, 02:58:00 PM
I kitbashed a old Lionel Geep and used the dummy upgrade kit to power the old lionel around the track.  I could only use one motor as Lionel had the old post war loco's set up that way.
I tapped the power wire into the wire for the Lionel pickup. It ran great and smooth for 2 1/2 hours and then started to slow down almost to the point of not running at all. I had no grinding, squaking, etc. type noise that said I need a lube job or anything! OK, time for a loco swap, when I went to pick up the Geep the body was warm and the motor truck was even warmer on the bottom then the body. Like I said, this is only a 1 motor unit and ran super. I have never had this happen with 3 F-3 that I've done as well as the 8 other WBB loco's that I have.  I plan to swap out with the extra motor & truck to see what happens there. All my wires and connections are good and strong.  Does anybody have any ideas on what might be happening here, and what maybe am I overlooking? Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / Series Wiring Question or Problem?
September 22, 2010, 06:59:57 PM
Here's the problem. Removing the wires at the board and connecting them together and then test run it on rollers, I noticed that one motor would basically come to a stop, the other would run a little faster. Grabbing the flywheel to stop the running motor, the other would start to run. After letting go of the flywheel, the other would slow to a crawl or stop. This would happen only in 1 direction and not the other. So I figured I would put it back the way it was and try the other 2 wires, same problem and reaction but with the other motor.
Now, with this running on the track and the strenght of the other motor pulling I'm sure it would keep the slower motor running but would the lack of current draw etc. put undue stress on the one motor and soon toast it, or am I overlooking something else? Thanks

It's been a couple years now since Bachmann took over. Can you all get more of your product diagrams online for those of us that have the older loco's that don't have them issued to us please. It would be really nice to see the whole line up like looking at the HO section, and not just see a couple.  Critiques, comments, complaints?  Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / Sound Problems [Maybe?]
November 14, 2008, 02:52:30 PM
I need some input. I have a 2 Locos that the Bell won't ring no matter what, Horn works fine. These are Williams that I bought about 6 months before the buy-out and have now gotten them outta the box to run. The locos in question are a NH EP-5 and a CNW NW-2. I was told by a reputable LHS to flip the 2 wires at the track, all that did was make the horn blow when I push the bell button, and still no bell with pushing the horn button. Is this a factory faux pas or something else? I have 4 other Williams that both horn/bell work fine. Power is Lionel "Z" trans using Lionel Cab-1 with TPC 400. Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / I Need Light Bulb Numbers
November 07, 2008, 11:52:25 AM
What bulbs do I need in my Locos? I have some new locos where the bulbs were toast out of the box, and there were no replacements. It seems like a #51 6V that was in there is waaaay to small.
What's a compatibale LED bulb as well? Thanks

Williams by Bachmann / Your Website is Terrible!
August 31, 2008, 01:09:56 PM
You all really need to do something about it. 230 locos in the Traditional line with 24 pages, and I have to scrool through  to page 21 before I even get to the SD45's. Come on now, use your heads for cryin out loud! If someone wants to look at the Traditional line of Diesels, click that tab that opens to a list of the models, i.e. FP45, F-7's, GP's, etc. so you don't have to go through the whole mess. And I'm sure that this isn't the only example? I really miss Williams old site, it was sooooooooooo user friendly to find something, not like what there is now. So much for change for the better. Thank you for the rant, hope you fix it real soon.
