N / turntable/roundhouse footprint?
November 11, 2009, 02:42:26 PM
My current layout plan calls for a 3-6 stall roundhouse on northbound terminus of my line, I plan on using the atlas turntable/roundhouse for the sake of simplicity. I have a limited space but I would prefer 6 stalls if possible. Therefore, I ask anybody who knows the roundhouse footprint dimensions to please list the information on this thread. I already have the turntable and know that it's diameter is 7 and 1/2 inches. Is it safe to assume that the round house stalls are the same?

Thomas & Friends / modeling Stuart and Falcon
November 09, 2009, 03:48:23 PM
To anyone with experience in 009, I am very interested in making reproductions of Stuart and Falcon as they were on Duke's old railway and have been looking for commercial body kits available.

I am particularly interested in Stuart so if anyone could point me in the direction of Kerr Stuart Tattoo class locomotive body kits and matching mechanisms available to U.S. modelers, I would appreciate it.

N / hardwiring for dcc advice needed
October 13, 2009, 10:24:12 AM
My current locomotive project includes hardwiring a locomotive. This is the first time I have done this, and I am clear on all the issues involved except the unique problem of smaller scales in regard to physically fitting the decoder into the locomotive shell. The loco is a dcc ready spectrum 2-8-0 in N scale and the decoder is a digitrax dz-143 decoder. Anyway I see it, I will need to shave some weight off of the cast frame.

I really do not want to do this! I have had very bad experiences with metal filings and motors, and I have no Idea how to disasember a steam locomotive and put it back together again with her drivers in quarter.

N / next run of n scale 2-8-0 consolidations?
September 16, 2009, 11:22:52 AM
Hello,

I was just wondering when, if at all planned, the next run of n scale 2-8-0 spectrum line consolidations would be release. My growing railroad requires a significant roster of them (six actually) and so far I have only been able to find one from a local hobby shop. Any hobby shop I have gone too has insisted they cannot get any of these locomotives from any distributers because they have been out of production for so long. Is this true and if so, when can I expect the next run?

Dear Mr. Bachmann,

I have recently purchased one of your n scale spectrum line 2-8-0 consolidations. I have since equipped the locomotive with an nmra dcc decoder and modified the external shell  of the tender and locomotive for the sake of appearance. The locomotive has sense failed to operate properly as it did before any of my modifications or even after the installation of the decoder.
This degradation of operation started after I test ran the locomotive with the decoder installed and apparently when I secured the decoder to the frame of the locomotive and replaced the modified shell.

The locomotive is now beyond my ability to repair and I wish to send it to bachmann for servicing, but I wish to retain my modified shell.

Is this possible and what should I do?

Thank you for your help in advance,

On30 / dcc for On30?
June 26, 2009, 12:58:17 PM
Does the spectrum on30 steam porter locomotive come as dcc ready, meaning that only a decoder is required for a plug-in connection?

I noticed that it was not listed as dcc equipped. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thomas & Friends / Bach Man: Donald and Douglas?
July 20, 2008, 10:02:07 AM
Has bachmann considered manufacturing models of Donald and Douglas. Both engine and tender shell could come from the same tooling, and the 0-6-0 running gear would be virtually identical to Thomas, as well as James; minus the lead trucks.

HO / Bachmann 4-6-2 K4 with sound
July 16, 2008, 10:14:07 AM
To anyone that has experience with bachmann sound-equipped steam locos; I have a few questions for you.

I found a bachmann k4 with sound. It's the old 1920's original paint scheme. The loco is new, and is for sale by a bachmann hobbyshop dealer. I ran it on the test track but was confused by a clickity click sound made by what I believe to be the motor. Can or will this sound go away after break in?(it's been is the window case for a while) and is the the headlight pickup on the last set of drivers?

I would appreciate any help anyone can give and I thank you.
