I always like to hear how other people got started in the hobby. How did it all start? What was the fascination? Have you introduced anyone else to the hobby? I started out with Thomas, and O gauge set then moved to Bachmann's HO line. That lead me to move to British 00 scale.

I need help with a converted Toby. some time ago I converted my Toby model to DCC then after a while he didn't run as smoothly as when i first converted him. then after a while longer he started would jerk as he moved along. so i ordered a new chassis and motor unit and converted that to DCC. now I'm back to my problem again, and before anyone asks, yes, i oiled him, cleaned the track, cleaned the wheels....the whole nine yards. i wired everything up correctly according to the Digitrax instructions, and made sure I did. I do have some basic knowledge with electronics but not as much as some of the experts.

Does anyone know what happened to the website? Did they close down? 

so how was everyones National Train Day? Totally forgot to post this yesterday. about a week ago i ordered a Metclafe warehouse model and i came yesterday so i started to build the first building of the two.

so i found a kit of Talyllyn the other day and was thinking about getting it, along with some track, but i can't find a chassis for it or any of the other steam engine kits (Sir Haydn, Dolgoch, Edward Thomas ect) could someone help a brotha out? if anyone knows of chassis' to fit the NG locos of the Talyllyn Railway please let me know.

i just received my new bachmann Dynamis in the mail yesterday, and today i wanted to test it out. I unboxed it, i hooked it up to a simple test circle, plugged it in, turned it on, waited, and could not get a signal for the controller. then i turned everything off and tried again. nothing. the signal bars just blinked and went up and down. then i tried it again and again and again. no signal. am i doing something wrong? or do i have a defective Dynamis system?
oh and a wired thing is that i tried my newly DCC installed thomas and he ran, at some speed, but not under my control. and when i tried my mikado all it did was "hum" and then it told me i had a short so i re-set it up again. thats when i thought " I need help from the pros"

does anyone know where i can get post war PRR coaches? i've looked all over and i can't find any.

I got my K4 pacific locomotive for this past Christmas, and i love it!    I was wondering what type of sound unit do you guys use? Because when i went to your service department in the summer there was a K4 with sound. and what would the best smoke unit for it? thanks.

this is the topic were you can make a review on hero of the rails.

Hero of the Rails to me was great. the voices were nice the story was good and the CGI was great. i want to start off with the voices:
1) Thomas: it was ok for the CGI. i can't really see it for the models
2) Edward: he was good, (see sentence 2 of thomas)
3) Henry: it was ok, but GET RID OF THAT SMEGGING NEW YORK ACCENT! it would be just fine without it.
4) Gordon: i think it was great (see sentence 2 of thomas)
5) James: it was fine, i thought it could have been more of a "Michael Angilis" James but it was ok for the US.
6) Percy: it was good, for the models: no. for the CGI:yes
7) Toby: didn't have any lines except for "Gosh?!" so idk yet
8.) Emily: great, its awesome to here Emily in a female voice. i think it would be great for the models and CGI
9) Spencer: it was great for the CGI. i like that Michael Brandon did a British accent for him, but i like this one for the US
10) Mavis: it was great but i think it should be a little more deeper so that it separates from Emily and Rosie
im going to combined the next ones
11,12,13) Victor, Kevin, Rocky: i think that they all fit their parts
al in all they were good voices for the characters. they were good for the U.S. i really want to see the UK version.

everything else was good, the CGI needed a little more light in some places but it was good enough. Well done to Nitrogen Studios!
I think that this was the most comical Thomas movie so far. it was great Kevin the most and Victor reacting. LOL 
the story line was even good to. but wouldn't you think that they would have found Hiro in The Great Discovery when they were looking for Thomas? anyway...
i like that i got to see Diesel, Rosie, and Madge make a cameo. i even liked seeing Mavis and Rocky speak, even though it was one line for the both of them. 
I would recommend Hero of the Rails to anyone! it was that great. i loved every minute of it.  So go out and buy Hero Of The Rails today, that s if you live in the U.S.

i just bught my first large sacle set,The Silverado . and i've been running it with smoke and i noticed something. Is it bad if the engine is leaking smoke? if so what should i do? plaese tell me A.S.A.P
