Has anyone experience in fitting a chip to the old 1997 Porter (mine is an excellent runner )   and if so which chip to use?i The chip makers appear to ignore both Porter models

Large / mistakeorintention?
May 12, 2015, 11:21:14 AM
Do you realise that the new on3 Heisler is listed in the large scale area for spares, intruction sheets etc Is this because it's coming in G (Please, please, please) or is it still an uncorrected mistake? It is about time Large scale got a new engine that's around long enough for us to save &buy it,too!

Large / anything new really new?
December 01, 2014, 09:13:35 AM
Hi
Isn't it about time we g scale modellers got something really new not re-issued, re- vamped etc and something a little more affordable. A decent NG shunter ( switcher) for example or a diesel switcher for sure  on3 seem to get all the joy these days are we being written off?? With the demise of Aristocraft track in the range things do seem to be going down the pan and no reduction in prices despite the fall in the cost of oil (for the plastic)
Hey ho Merry Christmas

Large / spares
March 05, 2014, 11:07:21 AM
Hi why doesn't Bachmann list any Climax spares?? I have a Climax that's been out of action through a broken part for 2years and it just can't be purchased!! Also, the Ballon stack for the 4-4-0 American has been out of stock for ages when can we expect a parts service from the Company that's worthy of the name. It's even more frustrating this side of the pond as 90% of bachmann dealers don't even do G scale and so we have to e-mail or wait long periods for shipping (Not to mention the extra import duty imposed on the tinest part!)

Large / climax pick ups
April 15, 2013, 06:26:03 AM
Hi Following the Climax failing in a host of sparks & hopping movements we found thet the contacts & springs had failed (5 years old) and upon examination one holder had melted away too. Having had to break the base plate to remove it (Screws too tight Mr Bachmann) we decided to reomved the pick up system, as only one wheel on the rear bogie carried current & change it for a pair of pick up sledges or skids on each bogie wired through plugs (for removal) to the body and link both bogies together for electrical continuity. It does mean it can now be chipped, the only non DCC loco in the fleet, and hopefully will give me more years of service than the original set up. It's worth the trouble because it's a great model.

Does the reappearance of the Climax mean (Hopefully) that the Hiesler will be re-worked for 2012--I need one, DCC ready though. I note Germany still have some of the old ones on their Bachmann web!
A well detailed Spectrum small diesel would be nice too

Large / couplers
June 17, 2010, 03:39:30 PM
Hi
Why does Bachmann have to keep changing the couplers for the Spectrum g scale??? 3 loco's - three couplers Original on Climax mates with all Large scale trucks, Shay brown couplers sometimes erratic and the fFrney lower will mate but loosely and a completely new coupler -Why??? Also why won't Aristocraft - in the same business group - also mate up with Spectrum?  Finally do they think we'll all change our large scale trucks to the new Spectrum ones just to couple up - they must be having a laugh.

Large / new forney tank
May 28, 2010, 04:38:24 PM
Hi, Whilst the Forney is a great locomotive, why do we all have to pay for the expense of optical chuff when I guess only 1 in 5 will add sound. Most like me would rather put that cash toward another locomotive also once you've heard it over & over it gets switched off anyhow! Likewise firebox glow & smoke, unless someone can produce a chuff synchronised smoke with plenty of the stuff so it looks like a steam engine not a diesel. Now you've gone to all the trouble to make a movable main chassis can we expect (Or hope for) a Mason bogie, please. Hell the forney is good though! Hey guys someone in Germany reads the page - Massoth have launched a syncro chuff -  looks fab see their web site OK

Hi
Why can't the large scale "Annie" be revised to these standards? I'd have another two if it were!
