Hi, can anyone give me some tips with the installation of a Tsunami2 4400 DCC sound board. I am having some problems and need some help. My plan was to get some sounds first and convert to DCC or battery  power at a later date. I know I won't get the full range of effects with analog but if I can just get some sounds like the earlier Sierra fitted locos I have I (and my grandson) will be happy!

I am using the connection card from my C-19 in the dummy DCC sockets in the K-27and have connected the Tsunami to Rail L&R, Motor + and -, speaker + and - and ground. When I power up I get a steam loco idling sound, the  card blue light comes on but the loco doesn't move, no power to the motor I guess. The loco works fine if I plug the Dummy DCC card back in.  The Tsunami must be missing an input bit apart from the functions I cannot see which. Is there any one that can help me.

Large / Speaker for a K-27
April 09, 2018, 02:22:14 PM
Hi from Norway! I am about to fit a SoundTraxx DCC sound board in a couple of K-27s and a C-19. I want to use the existing tender speaker mount (3") but I'm having a problem to find this type of speaker (8 ohms 3 watts) I'd prefer to use the existing mounting & screw fasteners rather than trying to adapt it to fit a smaller speaker. Anyone found one that fits ok ?

Thanks

Large / Help with Thomas sound boards
August 04, 2017, 01:20:24 PM
Hi I have purchased 8 Thomas sound boards, both for grandson's Thomas and for my local club's Thomas & friends locos that we use on our Large Scale ehibition layout here in Bergen Norway. I need some info that is not in the rather sparse instructions. Can anyone help?
Where inside the locos should the speaker be attached ?
What diameter of speaker should I use ?
Where should the board be placed ?
A picture of the inside of a Thomas with a factory installed sound board with speaker would be a big help. Any other tips would be appreciated ! Thanks !

I have bought the Large scale Thomas, Percy, James plus some coaches & trucks  for our large scale exhibition layout here in Norway. We run the models at two public exhibitions each year. Many of our young visitors have asked when Toby & Henrietta will be coming ! Maybe Bachmann should consider producing both Toby & Duck in the near future as I would have thought the Thomas chassis could be the basis for these models.

These large models have caused a lot of interest over here and I hope they will help sow the seed of interest for the next generation of model train enthusiasts.

I need some help. My local club here in Norway has built a layout with Peco gauge 1 track with a minimum radius of about 25 inches. We have an exhibition on Saturday and to-night we found that my G scale Thomas won't run though the curves.  I have found that the track width is about 1mm less than Peco's G scale and LGB. I need to reduce the back to back on Thomas's drivers. Does anyone know how the wheels sets are made up ? Are the wheels just push fitted onto insulated axles ? I was hoping to pull the wheels apart and reduce the length of the inner axles. Anyone else done this ?

Large / Original Gandy Dancer spares
February 03, 2010, 01:29:09 PM
I'm repairing my poor old G scale Gandy Dancer which finally died on me. One of the axle gears was split (again) but I've managed to fix this by using a thin wire "U" across the split but the drive belt has become dried out and is unusable. >:( The service department doesn't have these spares any more. I want to get this running again as it is very popular at our annual exhibition. Has anyone ever found a replacement drive belt and if so do they have any reference numbers.
I measured the old belt and it's 0.7 mm in cross setion and about 16 mm internal diameter.

Large / 1:20.3 Cabbose
October 01, 2009, 05:44:45 PM
Hello from Norway, I've just received my Spectrum RGS caboose. What a beauty ! :)

I have a question which I hope someone can help me with.

In the box under the caboose I found 3 small pieces of loose folded brass about 1/4 long. As the shipment has probably had a rough ride over the Atlantic I'm wondering if these have fallen out from the trucks as they look like small springs. Has anyone else found these loose and if so where should they be located ?

Large / K 27 RGS # 455 version
October 31, 2007, 03:20:06 PM
A question for Mr Bachmann !
Like many others I have been waiting for this model for many years. :)
I've ordered two already, for delivery from a retailer in the UK, a 463 with the "Flying  D&RGW" and the RGS 455 version with the "sunset herald".

After studying the photos available in the gallery it looks like the RGS 455 version with the "sunset herald" with be the post 1947 rebuilt version with the odd looking cab. Whilst not being a "rivet counter" I do prefer the 1942 look of this engine and modelling this period, before the wreck, fits in with the rest of my "master plan". So , my question to Mr Bachmann is:
will it be possible to buy an alternative (normal) cab after the K27's are released ?.

Best regards from a RGS G scaler on the wet & windy western coast of Norway !

Large / Smoke unit and max width of new K-27
September 16, 2007, 03:40:31 PM
Hello, like many others I will be ordering one or two of the new K-27's.
The long wait is finally nearly over !

I can't remember seeing any info. on a smoke unit. Will there be one fitted and if so will it work better than the ones in the connie and the climax ?

Also how wide will the K-27 be ? I've estimated 6-1/2" is this correct ?

Large / Bachmann circus calliope wagon 98373
March 19, 2007, 05:20:06 PM
Greetings fellow G scalers ! Does anyone have a circus calliope for sale with or without the flat car ? I think it was # 98373

I run a  Bachmann circus train on our G scale layout at our annual model railroad exhibition here in Bergen Norway which is a great hit with the youngsters and I would like to add a calliope to the train.

(I'm still waiting for for news of my most wanted engine (the one we mustn't mention !)
