Williams by Bachmann / Williams/AMT F-unit
January 30, 2017, 03:03:09 PM
My Santa Fe F unit has developed an interesting problem. After running for a few minutes, the horn sounds spontaneously and will not disengage! It shuts off if I reverse the unit and then comes back on when it goes forward. If I shut the unit down and let it sit for awhile, the horn shuts off, then comes back on in a few minutes! WTF is going on. I am tempted to just disconnect the horn, unless that would screw something else up!

Williams by Bachmann / Williams FM
April 21, 2016, 02:26:44 PM
I have a venerable Williams FM lettered of SP. It is a brute, as you may know, and can pull numerous cars. When operating on my mezzanine loop lines I kept hearing a clicking sound as the locomotive would come out of a curve onto straight track. This would occur on Gargraves and Atlas track, but not on tubular track.
Being"swift on the uptake" I discovered the  rear  wheelset--which is essentially there for looks-- was "picking" the rail on Gargraves and Atlas track. Not wanting to disassemble the truck to take remedial action, I cut up an old credit card an created a "shim" across the the axle to lift the wheels up enough so it would not hit the rail anymore!
My old FM (which I had professionally renumbered correctly for SP) operates flawlessly around the curves hauling long trains. If Lionel and Williams had put an angeled wheel on the trucks this probably would have been unnecessary!

HO / E-Z Track 36 inch straight
November 02, 2012, 09:59:21 PM
Unless I am misreading the HO Product information, the only way to purchase 36 inch straight section of E-Z is in "bulk" at $380. I guess its time to check out e-bay!

On30 / 0-4-0 Gas Mechanicals
May 22, 2012, 01:15:50 PM
Your Customer Service Dept informed me you do not produce , service, or repair the little 0-4-0 Gas Mechanical! This is disappointing! It was a cool little locomotive especially with the little mine cars! I sent mine in for repair and they sent me back a Porter 0-4-0. Those are notoriously poor runners due to poor electrical pick-up from the track! The apologized but said they were not told why the Gas Mechanicals were dicontinued! Be advised!

General Discussion / auto reversing board.
April 08, 2012, 11:57:27 AM
Is the Auto-Reversing circuit board available for separate purchase and do you think it would operate an O Scale 2-rail piece of track with train?

I read about the new Version 6 Annie! Can the Version 6 Annie front truck be retrofitted to a Version 5 Annie?

On30 / #44547 auto-reversing track set
March 30, 2012, 07:07:03 PM
I noticed the #44547 auto-reversing track set features two standard pieces of EZ track. How can they mix the two types of track. Can I use standard pieces of EZ track to extend my trolley set?

On30 / auto-reversing track
March 29, 2012, 11:08:54 PM
If I want to run a standard On30 locomotive on auto-reversing track with a power pack, does it mess up the auto-reversing track for the trolley?

General Discussion / K-line
January 08, 2012, 02:24:52 PM
This may have already been discussed, but I see, if I read it correctly, that Lionel is severing its connection with K-line trains. Is it possible Bachmann will try to pursue K-line. It would be ashamed to see this line of trains disappear!

Does WBB sell its GP-9 shells?

Williams by Bachmann / WBB Blue Goose.
February 25, 2011, 01:50:20 PM
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to put a longer trailing truck on a "J". The truck that is currently on the loco looks a bit shrt to me!

On30 / 0-4-0 Porter
December 14, 2010, 01:24:46 AM
I need to get the motor block on the Porter apart to repair the small wheel contactors. They are frozen on one side so they don't touch the drivers. I can't figure out how to get the motor block apart!

Williams by Bachmann / Williams GP-9's
August 19, 2010, 07:49:38 PM
I have two Williams GP-9's purchased sometime ago. My SP GP-9 always starts in the forward direction when power is applied. The SF GP-9 always starts in neutral when power is applied and then forward on the second power apllication. As a result-these units are always out of sync!

Large / Big Hauler parts
July 07, 2010, 11:55:06 AM
My Big Hauler freight cars are mostly over 10 years old--hard to believe are starting to show their age. I use some of then outdoor. I find the foot stirrups are starting to break and I cannot seem to find replacements. Hopefully (I hate that word) Bachman will make those kind of parts available soon!

Williams by Bachmann / Starting in Reverse
November 16, 2009, 11:59:44 PM
I run my F-7's with the powered unit in the rear in the old Lionel tradition! Therefore, in my case, it would be better if my F-unit actually started in reverse! I was told that the easiest way to do that was to reverse the motor leads. What is your thinking on this?
