HO / Bachmann GP7L in Alaska Railroad delivery
July 29, 2014, 02:05:53 PM
Hello everybody

Here is my latest project I'm working on...an Alaska Railroad GP7L.
I lowered the hood, milled down the frame and put on a new cabine, winterazation hatch and new alco trucks.

This used to be a Bachmann Baltimore and Ohio GP7, but now it is my startingpoint for my Alaska Geep.

This is how it will look likewhen I'm done

Still lots of things to do.....

HO / Bachmann GP30 in Alaska Railroad delivery
July 29, 2014, 01:54:41 PM
Here is another project I'm working on....a Bachmann GP30 in Alaska Railroad delivery. Not completly ready yet, I'm waiting on the parts that dear uncle Walthers should deliver.

Maybe also an idea for the Bachmann :-)

Maybe not 100% correct in every detail, but I'm satisfied if people recognise the locomotive ;-)

HO / Alaska Railroad F7 1526, former Rio Grande
May 03, 2014, 01:30:36 PM
Hello everybody

Today I started working on my Alaska Railroad F7 # 1526.

I started with an Bachmann Rio Grande F7. I changed the body with 4 small black stripes into 1 larger stripe, added a winterization hatch and F7 plow from Calscale. At this moment I'm cutting away one of the cooling fans, because the ARR only used three. The first one was mostly plated. I also changed the hight of the headlight in the door. This was in my opinion to low and to big. Now it is raised a few mm and integrated in the door. This headlight was a dummy on the bachmann, but now it is fully functionable. A small SMD led provides the needed light here. The upper light will be the marslight, or an extra headlight. Haven't found information about the upper light yet, what it exactly is. An ESU sounddecoder will deliver a perfect EMD 567 Sound. Finally the roof was painted black.

More pictures will come as work continues...

HO / Metal wheels for McKinley cars
December 23, 2013, 07:03:03 AM
Hello everybody

I've bought the 3 McKinley cars with plastic wheels. Which metals wheels need to be installed to get better performance?

Best regards from the snowwhite Swiss alps and a merry christmas to all

HO / Canadian Pacific GP40 4655 "Ugly Duck"
July 02, 2013, 03:09:05 PM
The CP bought some GP40's from the Ex Boston and Maine. This one is the #4655. It was an Bachmann Rio Grande GP40, where I milled the dynamic brakes from the hood, airbushed, decalled and wheatered it. Now it is waiting on the delivery from airhoses and other details from america to be finished. (And I just noticed I've forgotten a CP decal on the front...)

July 02, 2013, 02:43:11 PM
Hello everybody

My class III "Port Nicole Railroad" purchased some old engines from different companies. In the Port Nicole shops some elements were added, like MU-hoses and grab irons where needed. Decals were printed on my own ALPS printer. This engine was bought from the Canadian Pacific , where it was #4372

HO / Alaska Railways GP40-2
July 02, 2013, 02:00:23 PM
Hello everybody

Here are some modifictions I've made on a Bachmann Alaska GP40-2.

I added extra headlights on the roof (with SMD light), a snowplow, separate grab irons, electronic bell, winterisation hatches and as biggest change the famous L-shaped window. Still some details need to be added, like airhoses and windows. Also I painted the railings yellow and I changed the numberboards. Although it isn't a 100% match to the real locomotive, is has all the specific features that the Alaska GP40-2 has.

Best regards from Switzerland

HO / McKinley trucks
May 24, 2013, 10:55:41 AM
Hello everybody

Is it possible to order the "metal" trucks from the McKinley cars? I have already two of those beautifull cars with interiour lights, but now I was able to order three extra cars from an startset. In this set the trucks are made of plastic. Is it better to change them, or is the rolling quality from the plastic trucks the same as the standard trucks? I'm aware of the fact that those cars remain "dark", because the lightset isn't build in also.

With the best regards from the (still white from yesterday's snow) Swiss alps
