Hi
so I'm attempting to figure out how to fix my crossing signal system, it's been puzzling me for months now. So I've been told by the "experts" on this system that it's possibly the photocells being no good. I've tested all the cells for resistance and I've gotten readings from 6-19 and even a 0, and I'm not sure which readings, high or low, are good and which are bad? Anyone know more than me about photocells, please help...I may just have to switch to infrared sensors!

HO / running a camera off DCC track power
October 12, 2009, 08:20:48 PM
Hey guys,
Ive got a rather large question, I just bought a pair of wireless security cameras that i am hoping to place on a modified freight car to have a drivers perspective on my layout. Anyways the cameras send the video signal wirelessly but require power from a wall socket. The cameras run at 7.5VDC and 200mA, so im wondering if my DCC rail power can be used to power these cameras making them fully wireless. First I would need a converter(forget what their called) to change the AC track power to DC then, since DCC track power drops with more loads on it, I would need a way to regualte the voltage and power at exactly 7.5VDC and 200mA, that goes to the camera. Now i have no idea what to use for any of these needs, so im hoping some of you electronics experts can help me out with this one. Oh and one more thing that may be important is that the track power never drops below the 7.5v mark.

HO / Light wiring
April 21, 2009, 07:29:41 PM
Hi anyone that knows about electronics,
I can't seem to remember some simple wiring logic but I'm trying to add 1.5V bulbs to a locomotive and I need to attach half of the leads to a common pad on the decoder then the other wires go to seperate function pads. So my question is that 1 the common pad gives 12-14v that needs a resistor wired in between the pad and the bulb leads so can I use 1 resistor between there or do I need seperate resistors for each lead attached to the pad. Any help would be much appriciated.

HO / Signal and switch motor system crash
February 07, 2009, 02:51:16 PM
Ok I'm In desperite need of some electrical help. Turning on power to my signal and tortoise switch machine system I've got nothing. I've tested as man spots as possible with my multimeter including the power supply all the way to all the switch machines and some signals. They all show consistent power the whole way through yet nothing is working. The power supply has multiple outlets all that have switches. The main system is all on one switch/section. Structure lighting is on another switch and that is working. So is there a short an how would I know if it is. Does a multiple meter display something for shorts? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

HO / loco speed loss
January 24, 2009, 07:06:39 PM
Recently ive had 2 locos that have one day all of the sudden decided to only go about half speed that they did the last time they were run. the 2 engines were a bachmann DCC onboard GP-38 and an atlas dash 8 with a digitraxs decoder. Ive programmed all my locos to run all at fairly similar speeds but now these 2 locos are restricted to going quite slow, Whats up?

HO / Wiring a smoke generator to a dcc decoder?
January 10, 2009, 12:55:02 AM
Hi everyone
I'm trying to install a 8volt smoke generator to a digitrax dh123, but I'm not sure which way is best to connect it or if there's any kind of resistors needed? If anyone knows a bit about this I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks

I'm getting a bachmann spectrum undecorated dd40ax but I can't seem to find the model on the website, so is this the old model?
