HO / Good News for Pere Marquette and NKP fans
February 18, 2011, 08:39:25 PM
Good news for anyone that has a Bachmann 2-8-4 Berkshire Pere Marquette or the MTH version but still needs a caboose for it!

Altas has just announced a new run of their Trainman Coupla Caboose which will include two roadnumbers for Pere Marquette.  Roadnumbers will be A904 and A913.

These should be out around August 2011 if all goes well.

For Nickel Plate Road fans, who have the 2-8-4 Berkshires ,Atlas should be releasing two NE-6 cabooses in roadnumbers 759 and 769  sometime this month [FEB]!

HO / recycle old parts
August 30, 2010, 12:46:25 AM
Today i swapped out number of couplers for Kadee #5s and many plastic wheels for metal ones.
Before i knew i had a small pile of old plastic wheels and couplers.
I was not about to just toss them away, they just might come in handy someday, but what to do with them?
As Red Green likes to say "Imagination costs nothing"
That is when i turned around and spotted my empty 40foot gondolas.
So I grabbed one, experimented and voila! the wheels fit perfectly inside the gondola.
I had enough wheels to fill two 40ft gons,,just stagger them a bit and it is a perfect fit.
Now the gons have loads.
Did the same with the old plastic couplers, just threw them into a 50ft gondola.
These loads can be fresh from the machine shop that made them, or overhauled them, or
on the way to be overhauled, or to the scrap yard or something like that.

Go ahead and post your own old parts recycle ideas!

August 12, 2010, 08:04:29 PM
This is a just for fun thread.

Who is saving up for a Steam loco?  'Fess up.
Everyone line  up and form a circle, then pair up in groups of three.

There are two that i am saving up for. Either a  BLI Heavy Mikado NYC
http://www.broadway-limited.com/images/view.aspx?productId=959

or the BLI Light Mikado UP
http://www.broadway-limited.com/images/view.aspx?productId=966

OR,,,If they EVER get them in and release them,,these were announced  in 2008,,and we are still waiting here in 2010 and counting,,,
a Roundhouse Pacific,NYC .  This would be sweet for my Spectrum NYC heavyweights.
http://www.roundhousetrains.com/Products/TechnicalSpecs.aspx?ProdID=RND85129
or the ATSF version Pacific

Ok i lied. that's four.
Leaning towards the Mikado. or the Pacific,,,or one of each?

Famous Layouts or the layouts of Famous People is the theme of this new thread.

To Start things off, The layout of Gomez Addams.
I like to think there is a little bit of Gomez in all of us.

First this one shows a recreation of the 1960s' TV show layout

This layout plan is the one used in the movie

General Discussion / Your Avatar Picture
January 17, 2010, 12:10:02 AM
Tell us about your avatar picture if you use one!
The pictures are usually small and sometimes difficult to figure out What the
photo is of.
So I will start this with my own.
Mine is a shot of a  triple header. With a 4-8-4 in the lead.
The Locos are in order:
A.T.S.F #3751,  FP45 #97, FP45 #65?  It looks like 65 to me when I zoom in.
And what looks like some sort of passenger combine behind the F-45s'.

The photo was shot in the Cajon Pass of Southern California.
Here is a larger view.
