General Discussion / To ballast or not to ballast
December 28, 2008, 02:15:30 PM
As you have advanced in the hobby do you wish that you had done your own ballast work the first time  or do you think that would be best left for another day?

General Discussion / 440 American
December 24, 2008, 01:15:05 PM
I was wondering if anyone has a HO american made by Bachmann.I had some trouble with mine with the drive shaft from tender to locomotive. It would make a grinding noise. I checked the screws under the loco and saw that they were loose. Seeing that they were loose I tightened them and the noise stopped.

General Discussion / Layouts

To get an idea of what is going on in the world I have some stupid questions. What locomotives do you have on your layout (steam or diesel). What is the time period? Where is the setting? And finally what is the main frieght? I know this is wierd but I'm trying to gather my ideas and thoughts for my first railroad.
Thanks for reading :)

General Discussion / Quality
December 23, 2008, 02:45:52 PM
I was wondering (as always) if there is any difference in quality among bachmann trains. For example if I bought a 440 american in a set versus if I bought it sepertately as in just by its self would the quality of one  be better than the other?

General Discussion / New layout
December 23, 2008, 02:27:31 PM
I  am relatively  new to the hobby.Granted I have a 4-4-0 that if you read my other post you know has it's own set of issues. Also granting that the 4-4-0 is a HO locomotive I was wondering what, as a group of knoweledgable people you feel is the best scale for a bedroom sized layout. My only considered options are HO and N.

General Discussion / 440 noise
December 23, 2008, 01:49:50 PM
I have a 440 bachmann that has been around for a few years.Starting Last week it started makig this horrid grinding/chewing kind of noise.  :o So I then took the drive shaft out (from between the tnder and cab) and turned it back on it didn't make they noise. :) Then i put the shaft back in and it made the stupid noise again! >:( So I'm guessing the problem in in the loco not on the tender end. Any ideas on this would be helpful.
