Just in case others don't know Bachmann will repair out of warranty 0n30 locomotives if parts are still available for $80.00. You can call their service department. I had a Heisler that had unknown internal problems. They were able to fix it and return in 3 weeks. It works great now.

Working on a new logging railroad layout. I am wondering what grades are possible with the 2-6-6-2, 2-4-4-2, Shay, Heisler and Climax with three Bachmann cars and caboose? The 2-6-6-2 was slipping at 4%. My 2-6-0 was ok. I will try the 2-4-4-2 next. I have a 2-8-0 I believe will make it because of the weight.

I noticed some of the internet vendors are showing the Peco On30 turnouts being discontinued. I know Peco is working on combining their electrofrog and insulfrog turnout models to new unifrog models. 

Does anyone have any inside information on when and if the On30 turnouts will be converted?

There are quite a few DCC improvements/features with the new unifrogs. I am starting a new layout and would like to use the unifrogs if they are coming soon.

Has anyone found an equivalent to the Bachmann On30 brake wheel? I have found many 16" wheels but not a 13" wheel like the one on the On30 freight cars.

Could Bachmann make these available in the Part Store?

On some of the Climax and 2-8-0 models there is a vertical pipe on a standoff on the back side of the smokestack. The pipe goes down the boiler and then toward the back of the engine. Does anyone know what the pipe is for???

The 2-8-0 of the past came with a bag of extra smokestacks. One of the smokestacks was a cylinder with a small taper and had a vertical pipe on a standoff on the back side of the stack. The pipe went down the boiler and then toward the back of the engine. I have also seen this same pipe on the G scale Climax and G scale 2-8-0. Does anyone know what the pipe is for???

How do you get the grain of wheat light bulb out of the front headlight? I tried pulling out the bulb from the bottom of the headlight housing but it is tight. I assume the front lens was glued in? Did the bulb get pressed into the housing from the bottom? I want to switch to a LED while I have the hood up for DCC and sound installation.

I was trying to helping a member with a disassembly project by attaching a couple of pictures. The two pictures were each under 128K. I received a folder full message.

Has anyone tried to put a Soundtraxx ECO-100 in the smoke box of the analog 2-6-0? I am not sure it will fit.

Is there a way to determine before purchasing if a shay has the newer gears? What was the timeframe of the upgrade?  Were the sound equiped shays after upgrade? I would like to purchase a couple more but also want to factor in having to replace gears.

In one of the extra bags with the new 2-4-4-2 there was a small box looking piece with three round mounting tabs on the underside. What is it and where does it go?

Question? Where does the extra drum and control lever go on the new log skidder. The parts are included with the smoke stack in the extra bag. I noticed the flats on the shafts of both parts and saw they will mount on the front left main drum. Is this where they go or did I make a new invention? I also assume the two depressions on the back of the skidder are for smoke stack when moving the loader?

Are the On30 boxcar roofs glued or snapped on? I need to repaint a few and it would be easier if I could remove the roof before repainting the sides.

St. Aubin On30 seems to be getting out of the Bachmann On30 locomotive & freight car business. They have some very good prices on the cars they have left (boxcar, reefer, flat, gondola). It is a limited selection but if you are willing to repaint / reletter there are some good deals. I have already bought as many as I can afford, so I though I would let the rest of the group get a chance! I do not know much about their current situation but I have ordered from them in the past and been to their store in Las Vegas and have had good luck.

I would like to convert my 2-8-0 to sound. Will the full size Soundtraxx Tsumani fit in the tender with a speaker? What diameter / model speaker will fit without any cutting or trimming?

Does anyone know of a vendor(s) making custom to order dry transfers (rub on) decals? When I checked a couple of years ago the vendors I talked to said they could no longer make them because the required material was no longer being made. I have a photo ready copy of the custom decal desired. I only need white lettering and white logo.

I have a Shay and 2-6-6-2 equipped with Bachmann installed Tsunami sound decoders.  I have noticed a number of the CVs do not seem to function as described in the Tsunami manual. The functions in the ~0 - 30 range all seem to work. When I try to remap some of the function keys or higher CV > 30 I do not seem to get the predicted results even though the data reads are correct. Is this not a full version of the Tsunami? If so does anyone know which CVs are programmable? Some of the changes maybe me missreading / not understanding the manual but a few of the changes seemed straight forward!

Has anyone used the Peco 0n30 turntable? Does it go together well? What type of shaft and wiring mechanism does it use? Would you recommend it?

Which models of the new 2-6-6-2 have wood cabs? A previous post mentioned that there were both wood and steel cabs. The announcement posted does not say. I would like to get a wood cab on order.
