Just returned from the Steam and Power show. Still going on thru Monday. Had the greatest time. Must have been at least 8 train Steam engines running and taking passengers around at the same time. Plus cranes and tractors running on steam. Will make sure I go again next year.
Also plenty of food and a flea market.

On30 / Forney speed
November 29, 2010, 02:38:18 PM
Does the Forney run faster than the Shay.  Just as fast as 2-6-0 ???
I know the Shay is built to run slow with alot of torque.

HO / Spectrum 4-6-0 and 4-4-0
March 04, 2010, 05:39:18 PM
I have both the 4-6-0 low boiler with 52in drivers and a 4-4-0 Ma & PA with larger drivers.
Believe it or not the 4-4-0 will out pull the 4-6-0 by far. Both seem to be the same weight.
Any one have the 4-6-0 with 62in drivers to compair to the 4-4-0.??

HO / Bachmann and Walthers you loose again
August 16, 2009, 04:54:24 PM
Why is it so hard for Manufactures to publish the specs. on the products they make.
I am in the market for a 2-10-2 or 2-10-4 . I'm pretty sure i will purchase the IHC model because i know it will run OK on 22in radius with no problems. Bachmann and Walthers do not show any information on the Proto 2-10-2 or the Bachmann 2-10-4 (yes the 2-10-4 is just out).
What are they waiting for ? Let the modeler test it?
In the last few months i have purchased several loco,s from Europe and they publish the specs. Hornby, Roco, Fleischmann publish the radius and Not only that the total length of the engine and tender.
I am not in a position to shell out $100.00 to see if a model will work.

If any other fellow modelers have experience running the Proto 2-10-2 or the Bachmann new 2-10-4 i would like to hear from you.

HO / Mr Bach-man steam for 18in radius
February 11, 2009, 11:42:58 AM
You do not show the radius for DCC 2-8-4 Berk. Will it work on 18in.

I sure would like other steamers but you do not show what will work.

Thanks

HO / 2-8-4 berk
February 07, 2009, 10:07:22 AM
I only have 18in radius because of space. Is anyone running one of the new 2-8-4 berk's on 18in radius?? Does it slow down on the curves?

I have tried the new 4-8-4 Santa fe and it did not derail but it realy slowed down in the curves.
I have also tried the 2-10-2 Spectrum and it did not derail But slowed down some what . The center drivers on both 2-10-2 engines tried would slap the rail even on the straight track. Sounded like tapping the rail with a screw driver. One was a replacement sent direct from Bachmann.

I have a Bli N&W J, M1a, and AHM Berk that all run fine. Even my older Bachmann Niagra has no problem.

Thanks
