N / P&LE S4
August 08, 2012, 06:25:01 PM
Hello, Mr. Bachmann!

I really appreciate the P&LE S4 among your new N scale models, but as several others have pointed out, the paint scheme is a fantasy dreamed up by the artist Howard Fogg. I think it would be great to have a "Howard Fogg" version of the model, as a way of honoring him, but there may be copyright restrictions on its use. I really don't know.

But I hope you go on to make the S4 in a scheme the P&LE actually used. (The Atlas HO Alco model has it right.) I do commend you on the color of the Pacemaker Green. It appears to be right on.

N / On what prototype is the AAR 40' box car based?
July 20, 2011, 09:34:09 AM
There are many versions of AAR 40' steel box cars. What prototype version matches the upcoming Bachmann model? Opinions are welcome of course, but I'd like a definitive answer from Bachmann itself. I am curious.  Thanks.

However, there's a typo in the address should read ".com" not "_com". Here's the corrected URL: http://www.bachmanntrains.com/2010_NMRA.pdf

N / Any changes in the new Spectrum F7's?
April 27, 2009, 09:02:26 AM
Judging from the photo on the Walthers website, the upcoming NYC F7 looks pretty good! It has the new dummy knuckle couplers, but I'm wondering if there have been any modifications of the mechanism. Has it been revamped? Could you find out, Mr. B.?

Also, how about some new photos in the Photo Gallery of all these upcoming models?   Thanks.

N / How about some Milwaukeee Road locos?
March 06, 2008, 10:09:09 AM
I've noticed that Bachmann doesn't make many N scale locomotive models in Milwaukee Road colors/lettering. Like zero. So how about doing some?

Specifically, I bought an H16-44 in N&W with the intention of painting it for the MILW. But the handrails are glued on, and there's no way I can remove them without breaking them, which I'd have to do to mask the body for painting. (The body/walkway is a single casting.) The MILW had H16-44's in the phase Bachmann is producing, and I'd like to see some painted for that road. (BTW these are great little models and well worth their relatively low cost.)

But why stop there? The Spectrum 2-8-0 is a pretty good fit for the Milwaukee, and an SD45 in MILW wouldn't hurt either. The F7 would need dual headlights, but I'd be willing to add them myself.

Mr. Bachmann, can you please feed these suggestions to those who make such decisions? Thanks.

N / How about some K4's in N?
April 02, 2007, 06:12:28 PM

The Pennsy K4 is a very popular model in all scales, but we don't have one in N. Trix made a passable version, but nowhere as fine a model as an N scale Spectrum would be. So how about it? Can we have some  K4's in N? Preferably the post-war version, if you have to choose one.
