Large / TV ad with Bachmann train
May 27, 2017, 09:20:10 AM
Friends,
Be on the lookout for the Progressive Insurance ad on TV. It has a nice industrial 2-6-0 Bachmann train running. This is NOT an endorsement for the insurance, but I do like the train! Good job Bachmann in landing the commercial.

Large / Rio Grande Repaint Request
May 23, 2017, 09:19:43 PM
Mr. Bach Man,
I would like to request that Bachmann release some new paint schemes on the 'Annie' for late 2017 or early 2018 (announced at the NMRA show this summer)/ D&RGW paint schemes just like the three available on the C-19 (Flying Grande, Moffit Tunnel heralds and Bumble-Bee). These would be popular with the 1:22 and 1:20 scale folks as the locos are close in size to the C-19. The Flying Grande has never been released on the 'Annie', nor the Moffit Tunnel. I have asked before, but still hopeful!

Dearest Bach-man,
Please consider releasing new paint schemes for the 'Annie' in Rio Grande for 2017. There has NEVER been a 'Flying Grande' herald 'Annie' released. Also, one like the scheme of C-19 #346 would be great. These would be popular to go along with the C-19's (yes, there is some scale differences, but they could run on same layout). The Cumbres & Toltec RR will be returning a 4-6-0 to service in the next year or two and these would be great for the railfan/modeler.  Rio Grande Southern #20 would also be an excellent addition to the 'Annie' lineup, as that loco is returning to service at the Colorado Railroad Museum. These would be greatly appreciated.

Large / Repaint Request (Rio Grande 4-6-0)
April 25, 2016, 12:25:12 PM
Mr. Bach Man,
Sure would like to see some repaints of the 'Annie' 4-6-0 locomotive. Painted in the same schemes as the C-19 2-8-0's for Rio Grande would be most appreciated (Flying Grande and Moffit Tunnel heralds). These locomotives are CLOSE in size to the C-19 and would be excellent candidates for new paint. The new paint schemes would appeal to 1:22 and 1:20 scale modelers. I know new products are announced at the NMRA Convention, so put us on the request list and paint up some Rio Grande locos!

Mr. Bach Man,
Bachmann is not listed as a vendor/exhibitor on the 2016 National Garden Railroad Convention website. Any plans to attend? I always enjoy seeing the Bachmann large scale products on display.

Large / Movie on tomorrow with Bachmann paint scheme C-19
December 10, 2015, 09:17:47 AM
Denver & Rio Grande (1952 movie) showing tomorrow morning (Friday) at 4:30am on Retro Channel (#72 on Charter cable). Movie about building the D&RGW through the Royal Gorge. Filmed on the Silverton route. Two locos crash into each other. Features Bachmann C-19 paint scheme loco.

Loco Bill,
At a fairly recent National Convention, I spoke with a well know Bachmann rep that approves the paint schemes on the large scale products. When I asked for a 'Flying Grande' paint scheme on the 4-6-0, he insisted that it had already been done. I have been using Bachmann 4-6-0's for a long while and have never encountered that scheme. Anyway, my question is has this paint scheme ever been used on a large scale 4-6-0? If not, then my request to Bachmann is to produce one (very similar to the White Pass or Rio Grande Southern painting with proper Rio Grande lettering). With the Cumbres & Toltec restoring a 4-6-0, it could prove very popular. An while I'm at it, they should likewise do the Moffit Tunnel herald with spelled out words down the tender, just like the 2-8-0. The repaints could yield more sales without a tremendous cost investment (no real new tooling of parts). Thanks for answers and for considering my repaint request.

Large / QSI Titan Q2-FX, C-19, and Lenz question
September 20, 2015, 02:14:49 PM
Friends,
I three Bachmann C-19s with the QSI board installed. I am using the Lenz set 100. I can 'program on the main' some features. Two such features are STV and MAX. I can not read the decoder as Lenz system suggest. Anyway, my question is this. What is the value that should be entered into these two settings to make them all perform similar and possible do a double header? As the run now, all three start and run  at different speeds on the same throttle number. So again, what value are you putting in for these two to get good smooth performance and realistic speed.

Large / New Product Request
January 04, 2015, 08:13:59 AM
Mr. Bachmann,
You have produced soon VERY fine locos in 1:20 scale lettered for the D&RGW & RGS. Yet, there is very little rolling stock available (boxcar, flatcar, hopper car & caboose in D&RGW, caboose in RGS). The lowside gondola would be a good candidate for both lines, and the others in RGS would be good, too. Passenger cars, particularly parlor car, baggage, and RPO (to match size, color, & road name of the AMS plastic cars) wold be very popular with narrow gauge D&RGW and RGS modelers. Releasing the 'Annie' in the same paint schemes as the C-19 D&RGW locos would also be FANTASTIC! hope these make an appearance in the 2015 lineup of new products released at the NMRA show. Thanks!

Large / Rio Grande Southern # 20 4-6-0 Annie request
December 05, 2014, 07:23:17 AM
Mr. Bachmann,
The Colorado Railroad Museum is restoring RGS 4-6-0 to operating conditions. It would be great to have a FACTORY PAINTED #20 in the 'Annie' line. Using the bumble bee loco as a starting point (wood cab & fluted domes) and repaint black w/silver or graphite smokebox. This would be a good companion with the current RGS #25 produced by Bachmann. This would only require some repaint and should be a good seller with the real #20 coming back into service.
While I am at it, please bring out identical paint (lettering schemes) in the 'Annie' as in the C-19 Rio Grande. This would be a good match for the 1:20 scale locos (yes, I know the 'Annie' is 1:22).
I hope to see these in 2015!

Large / PNP boards in C-19 and K-27
September 03, 2014, 07:07:00 PM
Friends,
Bachmann, and other makers of large scale trains, have introduced the PNP (plug and  play) boards awhile back. I run track power. I have an older QSI PNP in another maker's C-16. It simply plugs into the existing board and you get chuff when loco runs and by reversing the power pack's polarity, you get control of whistle and bell without using track magnets and reed switches. I like this feature. Soundtraxx (I think) was to make a PNP sound board for the Bachmann C-19, but after several YEARS on the drawing board, the product died. My question is, who has a product that will work with track power and is PNP for my 2 C-19's and a K-27 (that does not have speaker)? I'm not an electronic guy, so I like the plug and play concept, but seems that there is not much available for the specific locos.

Large / Georgia Garden RR Society displays
August 08, 2014, 08:22:38 AM
Make plans to attend the large scale train show in Chattanooga on Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11, 2014. It is the former Dalton, Georgia show promoted by David Roberts (he did the National Garden RR Convention several years back in Kansas City). It will be downtown Chattanooga at the Trade & Convention Center. The Georgia Garden RR Society will set up their layout, as well as other groups displaying. ALSO at Tennessee Valley Railroad on September 6 & 7, the Georgia Garden RR Society will set up an outdoor layout by the Grand Junction Depot, Come by and see us!

G Scale Railroaders,
The Georgia Garden Railway Society respectfully request your help in support of our bid to host the 2017 National Garden Railway Convention. A bid will be placed at the 2014 convention in Tampa on Saturday, May 10. Anyone from the Bachmann Forum in attendance is asked to vote in favor of Atlanta, please.
The group hosted the LGB Convention in 2001 and has some experience at this stuff. We think with Atlanta' railroad history, and our groups layouts, this could be a perfect opportunity to have a great family vacation and enjoy southern hospitality at its finest!
I look forward to meeting many of you next month in Tampa at the 2014 convention.

Large / Rio Grande Annie Request
February 15, 2014, 01:29:09 PM
Mr. Bachmann,
I have requested many times before that the Annie be painted in the Flying Grande herald for the D&RGW. Others have suggested the other herald with words spelled down the tender. Both of these are on the C-19's and would look fantastic on the Annie, too. Maybe green passenger cars while we are at it. Please consider these new paint releases soon.

Large / American International Toy Fair (this weekend)
February 12, 2014, 08:40:48 PM
Anything new for Bachmann large scale fans? I know that items are TRADITIONALLY introduced at the NMRA show, but it never hurts to ask.
I'm still looking for the Flying Grande herald in the Annie. Hope, hope, hope!
