Large / BATTERY CONVERSION ARTICLES
May 11, 2009, 03:55:49 PM
I wonder if anyone could point me to articles pertaining to the conversion of the 35 -ton shay, the climax, and the heisler to battery/sound.
I currently have sound with track power in all 3 and would like to make a trailing car with li-on battery and trackside TE along with a remote
accessory module to ring the bell and blow the whistle .  Hoping this car can be "plugged in" to any of the 3 to run.  If the first car works, I'll build 2 more.  Thanks in advance,
Mike

Large / parts availability
April 22, 2008, 07:59:50 AM
Hi all,
Awhile back my Spectrum Centennial 4-4-0 hit the proverbial deck at a train show.  I managed to salvaged almost all the parts, but am in need of the single steps found at the front of the tender.  Also, due to the fall the boiler/smokebox has become loose from each other.  When the driving rods bush forward the smoke box separates from the boiler.  I was wondering what kind of glue would be best to use for this?  Ca?  Hotglue?  Epoxy?
Thanks for any help in advance,
Mike.

Large / bi-polar LED's
March 24, 2008, 11:04:50 AM
Question for the electronic gurus here.  I'm wanting to use a bi-polar (red/green) 3-lead LED to tell direction of track current.  i.e., it's green one way, when you switch the direction of the loco it turns red.  I thought I had this thing figured out, but it's got me stumped.
I can connect -lead to the center and touch the +lead to the left or right and they work fine (red/green respectively).  But when I switch the direction on the throttle and try it again nothing works.  I've tried the resistor on the center lead (-) and I've tried 2 resistors on the positive leads but nothing.  Am I barking up the wrong stack?

Large / trolley poles
December 05, 2007, 07:36:24 AM
Hello all.  Happy holidays to you.  I'm bashing together a steeple cab electric and I'm in need of a trolley pole or two.  I've never looked closely at the available Bachmann open or closed trolley, and was wondering if these are a sprung trolley pole that might be used for current pickup, and if so if they're available as parts?
Thanks for any input,
Mike

General Discussion / track prices
June 19, 2007, 08:59:28 AM
Curious.  What with the increase in prices of materials to make brass and stainless steel track, how will this effect the prices on  Bachmann's track?
A.C. has indicated they're track is doubling in price.

Large / Sound installation in railtruck
May 31, 2007, 09:12:42 AM
Hello All.  I have one of Bachmann's magnificent rail trucks, which I've done a bash with and would like to put Phoenix sound unit in it.  Problem is I don't know where to locate the speaker.  Any ideas?
Btw, the bash consisted of making a hearse body with columns, windows, and carriage lights.  Using the "mail box" as the coffin I afixed 6 chrome handles down both sides (3 on each).  With  lillys and roses along side and on top of the coffin it looks pretty good.

Thanks for any help in advance,
Mike.

Large / New 1:20.3 side tank porter
May 07, 2007, 11:48:27 AM
Hey all,
Does anyone yet have one of the new porters?  I heard rumors (you know how they are!) that this little gem was die-cast.  Any truth to it?  Does it already have sound?  I'm just trying to figure out why there is such a price difference between this porter and the saddle tank porter.  Any clues?
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

N / parts diagrams?
March 12, 2007, 12:51:49 PM
Hello.  A friend has asked me to find out about obtaining exploded parts diagrams for the bachmann N scale 4-8-4 steam locomotive.  His is an older model and he needs part #s to try and repair it.  Thank you.
Mike.
