I am wiring my HO layout. Have all track feeder leads coming from a power distribution block. I tested a set of track feeders connected to a DC transformer and got the expected DC voltage as I moved the throttle. Next I wired my EZ Command controller to the PDB and tried to get a reading at a track feeder ends and got no reading. Help... What kind of DC voltage can I expect from the EZ controller from start to full speed on the  EZ Command Command throttle??? Next I connected my multimeter directly to the EZ controller track power leads and still no reading. Is my controller dead or am I doing something wrong

HO / Layout Wiring
June 23, 2011, 07:18:31 PM
I am ready to start wiring my HO layout. I will have 3 mainline trains running. Each mainline track will cover approx. 40 ft. I plan to supply power to each mainline at 10 foot intervals. I will be suppling all 3 mainlines from a Bachmann 5 amp booster.
I want to run 2 feeder wires (1 for each side of the track) from the booster, then use
connectors to feed this power from the feeder lines to the track at each 10 ft point.

Question:

What gauge wire should I use for the feeder lines and also the lines to connect to the tracks.

HO / HO EZ Command Test Track
June 16, 2010, 01:02:25 PM
I am going to hard wire about 5 DC locomotives with Bachman 1 amp decoders. I will build a test track. Does the test track have to loop back to its self to make a full circuit or can I just wire my EZ Command Console to 2 or 3 pieces of connected straight track open at each end???

General Discussion / Additional Power booster

Hi again -HELP-
I plan to have 3 main tracks on the first HO layout I build. Each main track will have a consist of 2 powered diesel's (plan to run long freight trains of 20+ cars or more up some 2% inclines) and maybe a dummy or so. My question is if I use E-Z DCC Command and add a Bachman 5amp booster to run all 3 tracks (3 total trains with a total of 6 engines), will this be enough power for this layout???. 3 of the the engines are later model Bachman but are not decoder ready or decoder equipped (will have to hard wire decoders into them). One engine is a Spectrum and is decoder equip ed already. The last 2 engines are late Athearn Ready to Run without decoders, also need to hard wire them also. Will not have sound (budget not there for this) using only basic DCC engine encoders with filament headlights.

Will I have power to do this with an additional 5 amp booster.    ???

I am building my first layout after waiting 35 years to do so. I will be using E-Z Command. If I have 2 powered loco's with decoders in my train consist, how do I address them so they will pull (or push) the trainset together?
Can I turn on the headlight on the lead unit on and keep the second loco headlight off. Thanks....
