I have been looking at the new Sergent couplers and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. I would like to add tightlock style couplers to both my Heavyweights and Amfleets, but am confused as which type that would be on the list, and how well they would actually work. I would also like to use the draft box that comes with them for the most part, that way I could eliminate some pre-existing coupling issues. (Don't stay coupled very well)

HO / Operating Diaphragms
July 02, 2014, 02:28:59 PM
I was wondering about how to add operating diaphragms for some of my Bachmann Heavyweights and full dome cars. I have looked online for some options but wasn't sure about any of them and figured I would ask because I am sure someone probably has some experience. I use 22" radius curves just in case that makes a difference.

General Discussion / ES44AC Heritage Units

Does anyone know if they will be out in time for Christmas? I am trying to do a little bit of planning but I don't know if I can even get them for Christmas. Thanks!

HO / Double Track
July 29, 2013, 08:06:32 AM
I am currently using 22" Radius Curves to make a large loop around my entire bedroom and would like to know what radius I would need to make it a double track loop and be able to use the crossovers that Bachmann sells. I could only find 26" radius as the next step up so I wasn't sure if that was what I would need so I figured ask because there are people out their that have done what I want to do.

General Discussion / 6 pin DCC
March 25, 2013, 05:28:15 PM
Does anyone know how to wire a 6 pin DCC decoder without a socket. I can get a socket but what do I need to do to take care of the Positive connection for the lighting? (The decoder provides a neutral for the lights on the pins)

General Discussion / Tsunami Help
February 02, 2013, 11:40:53 AM
I have three Tsunami sound equipped HO scale locomotives. In the programing manual it says that it has a playable whistle function. All is says you have to do is program CV 47 to 1 or more to activate it. I understand that you have to have a controller that has a pressure sensitive button, which I do, to operate it. I have a Digitrax DT402D controller with a receiver panel connected into my Zyphr. I have the wireless remote set to be able to use the pressure sensitive button but when I program the Loco, the whistle will not work. What am I doing wrong or is their more to it to make it work? Is it because my Zephyr does not support this function, because I know my additional throttle does.

HO / 2-8-0 with Southern Valve Gear
November 16, 2012, 10:28:35 PM
I want to take a Bachamann 2-8-0 and change the valve gear to Southern Style valve gear using the part from the 2-10-2. I have a 2-10-2 and a 2-8-0 and it doesn't look like it would be as hard as it seems but wanted to know if anyone has done this. My goal is to make a model of Southern 630. Just to clarify, I don't plan to use parts I have, but order another 2-8-0 and the 2-10-2 Southern Valve Gear from the parts department.

HO / Climax Problems
May 22, 2012, 08:52:04 AM
I have a Sound Equipped 3 Truck Climax. The offset rod on the left side of the locomotive came loose on the screw and now I can't get the rod back where it belongs. The rod that would connect to the reverser is loose on that side. I could see a screw in that area that would hold the rod but I think the piece the screw runs though is broke. I think that is what caused the rod problem. Because of that happening over the time I have had it, (It never has ran smooth since I have had it) it has bent the small rod that runs to the piston.   I messed up the screw some trying to fix it, otherwise I have not messed with it. Will Bachmann still fix it? I hope they will because the Climax is the most expensive locomotive I have.

On30 / Road name question for the Bach-Man
October 16, 2011, 07:53:55 AM
What area does your "Little River Logging Co." road name come from? I have a feeling I know but I'm not sure if y'all got it from the same area.

General Discussion / Big Bang Theory
September 29, 2011, 08:17:04 PM
If anyone out there has seen the T.V. show "The Big Bang Theory" you probably know that Sheldon like trains and on the season premier Sheldon bought  a train set and it was the "Rail King" set. I was thinking WOW. I thought that it was ironic that he bought a Bachmann train set. Just wanted to share.

HO / One prediction for the future
July 10, 2011, 05:17:31 PM
I know that the new items have been announced and the new Hiesler caught my attention. One thing that I figure now that Bachmann has the full logging assortment in Large and On30 most likely they will come out with a HO two or three truck Hiesler in HO scale. I'm hoping a three truck but that is just me. Another reason they may is that they already have the Shay and Climax in HO. This is just a thought so don't start bickering. So what do all the folks out there think?

HO / 0-6-0 smoke improvement
June 24, 2011, 06:09:20 PM
I discovered how to improve the smoke unit on the DCC equipped 0-6-0 tender locomotive! If any of you like the smoke on your locomotives here is a way to improve the smoke on the 0-6-0.
1st take the shell off the locomotive.
2nd, take the tape off the decoder and find the blue wire leading to the smoke switch and cut it off at the decoder.
3rd, go from the smoke unit and take the wire leading strait to the decoder and cut it off at the decoder.
4th, strip both the wires you cut (The blue wire from the switch and the wire leading strait out of the smoke unit to the decoder) and make a "hook" out of the stripped wire.
5th, If you look the two decoder power wires connect on screws on top of the split frame. Loosen the two screws up to allow for 1 of the 2 "hooked" wires on both screws.
6th, connect one wire to one screw and tighten it and connect the other wire to the other screw and tighten it. After you do that you should have the power wires from the decoder and smoke unit wires on the same screws.

7th, Make sure the wires are out of the way of the smoke unit and put the locomotive back together.
Test the locomotive on DCC with smoke fluid and it should smoke well if you let it sit and warm up. Afterwards It will constantly stay on. If it does not work make sure the smoke switch is in the on position and that should do it and if that doesn't work then you did something wrong.
The on off switch will work the smoke unit if you do not want the smoke all the time.

If you have any questions just ask.

HO / Steam Turbine S-2
June 18, 2011, 10:26:44 AM
I know I have already posted something about this. I still think the PRR S-2 6-8-6 would be a god locomotive to produce. I know that it was an experimental locomotive and that only 1 was built so don't go there. I have learned that this was a successful model in O gauge and that the brass HO scale models were sellouts in all brands and everyone knows how expensive those are. I think that it would be a very good seller based on that. Besides that, the Williams line already make an O gauge version of it. I have more HO scale than other scales and HO is known as the most popular scale. Also, Bachmann would do a very good job of making it I'm sure and it would more than likely be at an affordable price too. The loco has some advantages like less moving parts. (A.K.A - The coupling rods) I hope to get some input from The Bach-Man. So what do y'all think?

I wasn't sure where to put this but if any of you know what the game "Chris Sawyers Locomotion" is and have used the downloadable trains do any of you know how to instal the .rar files for the trains?

General Discussion / Digitrax
March 19, 2011, 05:59:54 PM
I have something to say NEVER get a digitrax decoder. Me and one of my friends bought some and when we tried to run his train with the decoder, it burned up and I burnt one of mine up when I reprogrammed it.
