Large / White Pass & Yukon 2-4-2
July 04, 2010, 12:17:56 AM
Looking for information about a large-scale loco & tender I have seen... basically dark green, with livery and road name as "White Pass & Yukon", "W.P. & Y.R.", No. 9. Appears to be a 2-4-2 design, which I am unfamiliar with, and I do not know the Bachmann model number. Nice looking little train - smoke, sound and headlight equipped.
Thanks in advance...

Large / White Pass sound problem
June 25, 2010, 01:41:48 PM

Hello...

About 2 weeks ago I received my 1st Bachmann, a 4-6-0 White Pass loco & tender w/ sound. After running it a bit on my layout, I think there is a problem with the "chuff" part of the sound. It sounds like only a steam sound is coming through, and that sounds very tinny, or hollow, for lack of better words. There is no chuffing sound, like I am used to with my LGB trains. When the train stops, there is the definite "whoosh" of the steam sound.

The reason I think there might be a problem is infrequently there is a momentary sound, a deeper pop - like a chuff, that is discernible, almost like there is a short in the system.

Battery is installed, wires are connected to the loco, both sound switches are "on". My layout is about 50', indoors, 6amp trafo, 5amp throttle.

This is my first Bachmann train, so I have no direct comparison for the chuff and steam sound it should make, only to my LGB gear.

Do you have any suggestions for trouble shooting this?
Perhaps my best option is to return it...

Thanks...

Large / Loco lube & maintenance
June 24, 2010, 10:57:25 AM
Looking for guidance on proper technique and materials for lubricating train engine wheels, axles, drives, etc., and keeping them running smoothly in top form. I have a Bachmann 4-6-0 "White Pass" and a couple of LGB 0-4-0 starter locos.
I see the lube & maintenance instructions for the K-27 in the on-line product manuals. Generally speaking, is this the procedure to follow for most any loco, using the E-Z Lube product line?
Perhaps off topic, but I will venture the ask... Does anyone have any maintenance or replacement experience with the traction tires on the LGB trains?
Thanks...

Large / Outdoor track
June 17, 2010, 03:43:19 PM
I have been reading on this forum re: track for outdoor layouts, and see that Bachmann track is a no-go for outdoor applications. I use track power and have a small layout (60') of LGB brass, looking to expand. I read that Aristo-Craft and USA Trains products are compatible with LGB, but have read no commentary on Piko track. Please share your experience with Piko, and mixing & matching brands in general.

Large / Bachmann 810xx series steam locos
June 04, 2010, 11:12:52 AM
Trying to find specs for this series of Bachmann Large, such as does it have, lights, smoke, sound, etc. etc. On the Bachmann site I see this info listed as features for the 812xx, 813xx, and other series. Suppose this means if the feature is not specified, the model does not have it (?)

Large / Bachmann Large scale & gauge
June 02, 2010, 02:46:10 PM
Hello - I am new to this forum, and want to ensure I understand Bachmann Large scale and track gauge.
How does it equate to LGB G scale (1:22.5) and 45mm or Gauge 1 track?
Does Bachmann specify minimum track radius for loco operation?
As a rule, will Bachmann Large run well on an LGB G layout?
Thanks...
