HO / H4561B-L Replacement
June 19, 2018, 02:04:24 PM
I am trying to purchase another H4561B-L remote controlled turnout.  I cannot find one listed in the on line store.  Is 44557 the new replacement?  Will it fit into the layout where a H 4561B-L non remote control is currently installed?

HO / F7A repair parts

I have an Bachmann F7A and while doing a DCC decoder install I broke the Drive Shaft (N112A-00E04) for the rear wheel set.  I am trying to find a replacement part for that and so far I am not doing well!!   Anyone have any ideas??   Thanks in advance.

HO / Bachmann EZ Track Turnout derail
December 14, 2017, 07:27:15 AM
I am having intermittent derailing problems with my Bachmann turnouts (Nickel Silver w/gray roadbed).  I have used the NMRA gauge and I am finding all of the Guard Rail to Stock Rail distance is too large (tab drops into opening between rails).  This is on ALL 11 switches.  it is so large that the tab on the "No Go" side of the gauge is able to "bounce" between the rails.  I find it hard to believe that ALL are out of spec.  Am I doing something wrong and/or should I be concerned.

QuoteThe handrails may be glued into precast holes.

Unfortunately there are no  precast holes.  There are raised nubs right where the railing should go - Do I cut these out?  Will they pop out?   I really don't want to take the base apart to see.

Are the handrails supposed to be glued to the small nubs on the track section or do these nubs come out/drilled out?

That thought had entered my mind but half the fun of something like this is doing it!   Retired now and have all the time I need.... and what the heck - if I screw it up then I can always fall back to buying new!    :P

This is perfect - thanks.   I do have the "can" motor.  All of the write-ups and vids I have read/watched so far do not address the issue of the chassis wipers on the trucks.  I was really worried that if I cut them like this shows I was going to mess it up!  Thanks again.

HO / Hawthorne village US Navy Train DCC Conversion
January 19, 2016, 02:50:56 PM
I have an old (10+ yrs) Hawthorne village US Navy Train that I want to convert to DCC.  I believe that this is an F7A locomotive.  I have researched the schematics and basic "how to's" so I have a little understanding of what to do but wanted to know if there are any guidelines/instructions to follow?   Engine runs now on DC.

Thanks in advance.
