General Discussion / Re: Why model trains?
April 07, 2015, 05:02:11 PM
Got my first train, 027 Lionel for Christmas in 1944 at age of 5.
Since then, I have modeled in S gauge, TT gauge, HO gauge, N gauge and ON30 gauge.
Currently model in N, HO and ON30.
I have always had a fascination with anything rr.
Especially steam locomotives, such as Maryland and Pennsylvania steam.
Have lived 49 years within sight of NorfolkSouthern.
Do a lot of scratch building.

On30 / Bachmann 29901 ON30 Archbar trucks
May 24, 2013, 11:07:34 AM
Mr. Bachmann
When are we going to see the 29901 ON30 archbar trucks available again?
These are a very popular item and makes a person wonder why Bachmann
doesn't make an effort to keep them in stock.

Just completed building ET & WNC #503 caboose, awaiting painting.
Am presently working on  #203 bobber.
Can anyone tell me what the ET & WNC caboose colors were around 1900-30?
BTW ON30.

N / Re: Baldwin 4-6-0 Bachmann 514.. series
January 10, 2011, 04:24:24 PM
Read in review article http://www.visi.com/~spookshow/loco/spec460.html
that the Bachmann 4-6-0 is supposively copied from the Maryland & Pennsylvania #28.  If so the bell is placed at the wrong place. Should be between steam dome and steam generator insted of steam dome and sand dome. Other then this discrepancy model is very close to Ma & Pa #28. Sorry can't say same for tender.
Bachmann don't take my criticism wrong, I very much appreciate your making this model. I have two and am planning on purchasing two more. Thanks!

N / Re: 4-6-0 driver size

Measured driver on 4-6-0 today (and if I read correctly) dimension was .368 which figures to be around 59" in N scale. Seems rather odd size.
