HO / gluing track
July 23, 2014, 08:38:53 PM
Greetings ,

What do you recommend as a glue for gluing Bachmann's nikle track to foam risers.
I would want to avoid glue that would interfer with the DCC turnouts that I have  with the tracks
Thanks

General Discussion / Re: gluing plastic
April 29, 2014, 10:27:33 PM
Thank you for your advice.
You are correct the project I have is very very small . It is a tiny broken part of a ladder in a tender .
The problem is that the break is flush with the top of the tender which happens to be red and the broken part is black  so that any tiny seapage of glue may ruin the red top of the tender .
If I use the watery liquid stuff you mentioned I would probably need to use a toothpick, and be very careful
Also considering what Ebtnut  mentioned about the types of plastic on the Bachmann engines , I am now considering leaving it be  and accept it as a small imperfection .

regards,

General Discussion / gluing plastic
April 28, 2014, 09:43:07 PM
Hello
I purchased a steam engine that has a plastic piece that broke . I would want to glue it  but  I'm concerned about the glue peeling off the paint in the area around the repair site .
any idea of which glue to use without effecting the paint around the repair area

Thanks

What is the best agent recommended to glue Bachmann's nikle track to foam .
Is it safe to glue around the layouts

Thanks

Dear Doneldon

Thank you for your elaborate response . It was really very helpful
I see your points and tend to agree with them ,I have decided to go with the Bachmann 2-8-0 model

Thank you for your reply.
I still wish to get  a Steam engine even though I agree the diesel has more pulling power.
The Track is 22" radius ,2.5 grade/incline .
I agree with the fact that the 2-6-0 is theoreticaly mire powerful becused of more wheels ,but
It is interesting how the price of the:
Spectrum HO 80130 Great Northern Railway Modern Baldwin 4-4-0 Steam DCC SOUND is double that of the Bachmann 51807 HO-Scale DCC Sound Alco 2-6-0 Steam Loco PRR-Pennsylvania #3233.

My concern is which of these locomotives would be powerful enough to pull my rolling stokes ( 4 )
up the 2.5 incline .

which engine is powerful enough
which one would you recommend
Please advise

Thank you

General Discussion / Programming the DCC Trunouts
December 11, 2013, 11:49:54 PM
Hello ,
I have a Dynamis DCC .When I program the Trunouts ,all is well and  each turnout is added to a Hot Key and it works perfectly until I turn the handset off . all the programming is lost .
Next time I need to reprogram the turnouts all over again .
I am i missing something .Do I need to do something different .

Thank you Dave .
To be clear . I did the address change on Service track as you mentioned and the train jerked ,
and I later added the name that I wanted  and pushed program but still the train did not function . I must also tell you that the train is a Broadway Limited Steam Loco ,not a Bachmann train .Could that be the problem ?

Also what do you mean by "power off on maintrack  ALLWAYS. ". How do I power off the maintack . I don't use main track programing .

appreciate your input

General Discussion / changing name of Locomotive in DCC
December 10, 2013, 11:18:13 PM
I wish to operate two trains.
the default number for both trains is # 003 so I need to change the address and name of at least one of the trains so I can operate them separately
I tried to change the train address and name using the Dynamis system . Went through all the steps as instructed ,and at the final step the train responded to the name change with a slight movement .I thought that meant that the decoder acknowleged the address change . However
When I pushed the Throttle The train would not move .
I later went back and changed the address back to the 003 and it started working as usual.
How can I change the address and still get the train to function on the new address . Am I missing a step or doing something wrong ?

Thank you
