The Chesapeake Bay and Western in Grafton, Va will have its semi-annual open house  on 20 and 21 November.  Come see one of the largest layouts on the east coast. 

In 1858 the tunnel used for years by the C&O , bored from both sides of the Blue Ridge at Rockfish Gap met on Christmas Day with an error of six inches.  In 1944 the replacement parallel tunnel met with an error of four feet!

Unless something else happens -and it may - I will have a short article published in the C&O Historical Society magazine in June.   That seems awful soon for something submitted yesterday!

I use Code 100 for mainline rail and Code 83 for sidings.  It's a matter of using 83 to 100 rail joiners when connecting the two different codes.  It is not a big deal.

If your C&O 2-6-6-2 has a rectangular tender it's an H-5, the USRA light Mallet.  If it has a four wheel truck Vanderbilt tender, it's an H-4, a C&O ordered Mallet.

The word when 611 dropped her fires was that there was one driving force for steam excursions on NS and he retired.  The next day the order came to stop the excursions.   That was some 18 years ago.

Answering my own question, according to Soundtraxx it may well be the Tony's Trainworld Powerpack we have.  It's several years old and apparently a lot of people with Bachmann DCC equipped have called in with the same problem.  Of course, Soundtraxx's solution is to buy their powerpack, the PTB-100.

Bachmann's old Hogwarts Express sets were OO running on Bachmann HO track.  They work fine.  I've also run them on the club layout's HO gauge flextrack with no problem.
