Hi everybody!  Just wondering if anyone knows if bachman or someone else makes a pair of elephant ears to fit the Bachman Northern 4-8-4 from the Overland train set?  Thanks for any info you might provide.  bfife

Thank you all for your gentle wisdom and guidance!  Am not reaaly modeling any RR with the degree of accuracy and attention to detail that I have seen posted on this site.  I would just like to run 3 separate rails around the walls of a large room at a shelf height of about 7 1/2 to 8 feet.  The outside rail will be a Santa Fe F7 passenger train, the middle one will be a UP steamer pulling a 35 to 40 car consist of different types, and the inside one will be 3 various Santa Fe diesels dragging a 50+ car consist of various freight car types.  My whole thought was just to make it fun.  Was hoping to find one steamer that could pull at least 40 cars to illustrate how much more powerful they were than the earlier diesels.  GO OHIO STATE BUCKEYES!

Am new to this hobby and am looking for a steam locomotive that will pull at least 40 cars on a flat layout.  Track is nickel silver EZ with 33 1/4" radius curves.  Cars are weighted as from the manufacturer,  I have a 4-8-4 Bachman UP loco from the Northern Overland Limited train set and it will pull between 25 and 30 but then loses its grip and spins the wheels.  Also, what would you rate the quality level of AHM and Marklin locomotives as compared to the Spectrum line of locomotives.  I would appreciate any advice or suggestions concerning these two questions.  TH

SteamGene,  Thanks for your reply!  All 3 diesels are powered.  Two are Bachman, one is an Atlas.  Cars are a mixture of Athearn, Roundhouse, Bachman and some others.  Some bought new from a local hobby shop that went out of business and others picked up at local train shows.  All are just standard size, I think, a mixture of boxcars mostly, with some tankers, flatcars, coal cars and a few auto carriers etc.  The steamer is a 4-8-4 Bachman that comes in the Overland Limited train set which includes a 9 car consist.  I suppose I should sell the boxes of track and start looking for some flex.  Do they make nickel silver flex?  I may stairstep the tracks.  The room measures 18' x 23' so each train should be visible at some point with one going in the opposite direction of the other two and each running at different speeds I think.  Terry

Hi everyone.  I'm new to this hobby and would be very grateful if someone could answer my question.  I am planning to run three parallel tracks around the perimeter of a fairly large room.  They will be on a shelf above the doors and windows.  HO scale.  I have so far got three 50 piece boxes of 9" steel EZ track and know I will need more.  My question:  will this kind of track work OK for this?  The outside circle will be a Santa Fe passenger train.  The middle will be a Santa Fe 3 diesel freight and the inside track will be a 4-8-4 Union Pacific freight.  Is 40 to 50 cars too much to pull for these two freight trains?  I guess that was 2 questions.  Sorry.  Any advice would be very helpful and appreciated.  Thanks,  TH

I hope it's not being phased out.  Am setting up 3 tracks to run around the perimeter of a large room using EZ track.  Am using 22" radius curves for the inside track and am new to this hobby.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what radius to use on the middle and outside track using EZ track?  What is the largest size radius curve available in EZ track?  I appreciate any advice received.
