N / Re: Decoder for spectrum sd 40-2 n scale
February 03, 2016, 12:56:35 PM
Thanks for the info, but I probably won't buy that one. I would prefer atlas or Kato with drop in decoders which I have done before.I also have bachmann engines with factory installed decoders of course.

General Discussion / Re: dcc ready turntable power
July 30, 2015, 11:28:07 AM
I have decided to go with dcc to control the turntable. I have ordered the bachmann dcc decoder to install in the turntable.

Yes, that is what i decided to do.  I ordered a decoder to put in the turntable.  It is the cheapest way for me and controlling it will be just as easy

What voltage is the bachmann dc power pak/controller.?
#7
I have it figured out now.  There are only two ways to power the turntable.  Use another separate dc power pak and controller just for the turntable or install the decoder to use with the dcc system.  The decoder is cheaper than buying a dc power pak and trying to find a place to put it. So I ordered the  decoder and will run it off my nce dcc system the way it was intended to be used.

I recently purchased the n ez turntable. It has instructions for hookup with dc using a bachmann powerpak and for installing a decoder and usng it with dcc.  I have an nce dcc system. I would like to use the switch that comes with the turntable, but use dcc for the trains.  How do i power the switch?  Ac, dc, or track dcc power?

General Discussion / dcc ready turntable power
July 20, 2015, 07:51:22 PM
I purchased a new  turntable. I want to connect it to a dcc layout. I will have powered track coming in at position #4, but I want to use the supplied direction switch that comes with the turntable. There will not be a dcc decoder in the motor house. How do I connect the plug end of the control switch. Do I use track power from the track power bus or do I use 16 vac from the accessory terminal block that powers my turnout switches. It looks like it runs on track power if I was using the dcc decoder. I have an nce power cab for dcc track power and engine control. This would apply to n scale or ho scale new dcc ready turntables.

N / sound for bachmann n scale F7 with dcc on board
October 12, 2014, 08:55:54 PM
Does anyone know of a good sound dcc decoder or dcc engine and sound controller that is not too hard to install in my bachmann n scale current model F7 with dcc already on board. I have not opened it up. Does it have a dcc board that can be replaced drop in style or have a plug to plug in a new decoder? Would the soundtraxx tsunami micro TSU-750 (827001) or the MRC 1959 n diesel universal decoders work? Thanks

Yes, I found those MT trucks but I wasnt sure if they were the right ones. Thanks, I believe that will be the right solution. Lead car is the RPO and would not be lighted,, or could use the rear truck for pickup.

I am having trouble getting my kato spring loaded knuckle coupler on the santa fe super chief passenger cars to couple to my bachmann dcc f 7 a or b units with ez mark 2 magnetic knuckle couplers. The kato couplers are smaller and are made differently and wont hook up and stay hooked.  I am considering replacing 1 ez mate coupler with MT 1131. However, I tried to couple the kato car to a micro trains box car with MT mag. Couplers and they wont mate up either. Is there a kato conversion for the bachmann short body mounted, or how can i mate the car to the diesel short of super gluing them together?
