General Discussion / Re: Warranty work
November 29, 2010, 05:12:48 PM
Thanks for the replies. I am aware of Bachman's warranty policies, and have used them in the past. I don't remember if I sent in the warranty card several years ago when I got the engine as a gift. I know I must send cash. But must I contact the service department before I send this in?

Thanks,
Doug

Do I need to make contact with the service department before sending in an engine for repair?
Thanks, Doug

Thanks, Rick. I guess that I didn't look hard enough. Your advice about going to Barry's drive is well taken. I have one in one of my older 10-wheelers, and I'm happy with it.
Thanks,
Doug

Large / Connie Parts
April 27, 2010, 11:23:25 AM
The axle gear on my 2-8-0 has split. I've found the part number for the axle assembly, but not the screw and seal that came out of the end of the axle and caused the whole problem. The parts lady can't help without the part number for the screw and seal. I can't find it.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

The conversion to correct-heighth couplers is documented on the Kadee website. It is simpler than the lengthy documentation my imply. Your engine will look better, too.

We go through this process every time something new is announced. The complaints, whining, etc. are, for me, a source of amusement. I love it.
Okay Mr. Batchman, when are you going to get off your duff and get us something new???
Hah! Is this a great hobby, or what?

I, also, would be interested in how you installed LED's and what ones you have had success with.

Thanks,

Large / Satin finish and decals
April 13, 2009, 01:56:13 PM
The unlettered tank cars have a nice satin finish. Is it advisable to cover it with gloss for the application of decals, or is it smooth enough as is?
Thanks,

Doug

When you get your engine back, make a thorough examination of it. Several years ago, I sent in my 2-truck Shay for split gears. After what seemed like a long wait, it came back with broken steps and hose hangers. In anger, I put my Shay away for over a year. When I got it out, I realized that it was someone elses engine, and had places where lettering and the dull finish was removed. I don't blame Bachmann for not making good after over a year, but I really do wish that they would take responsive action to all of the service department complaints. I really do like all of my Bachmann F scale stuff.

Barry,
As the owner of one of your drives, I suggest that you take your vitamins. :)

Pete,
With all due respect, your postings would not be so difficult to read if you used punctuation.

I use Aristo track outdoors. What is available, and compatible, for a 45 degree crossing?

I would like to correct the fan direction. Is there documentation, or is this a learn-as-you go process?
Thanks.

Large / Porter Coupler replacement
October 20, 2008, 02:15:30 PM
Kadee lists #796 as the replacement on their list. They call for #831 on the conversion instructions. What coupler have you guys used successfully on the 0-4-0?

Thanks,
Doug
