Steve, I hadn't properly read your reply before typing mine, however, I thought that the answer  straight from the horse's mouth, as it were, was worth putting on here.

I too am a Tower Models customer and agree with you about their high standards of service and speed of service. I have always found them to be very helpful and use them when I can.

Regards,
Dave

Hi,

I couldn't find the gas mechanicals on Tower's website so I rang them this morning. It is an old advert and they were all sold out a long time ago. Shame though.

On30 / Re: E Z Mate MkII Couplers

Bill,

It would seem that I have just been lucky. I have one more underframe to do and will see what happens there. I did try and fit a set of KD #5's and the spring plate wouldn't fit over the centre post so I gave up on that and tried the whisker ones #148.

Each to his own, although new to On30 I do prefer the KD's to the Bachmann versions.

Dave

Bill,

Interesting to hear you have had trouble fitting KD whisker couplers into Bachmann draft boxes as I have just fitted two box cars after painting and they work a treat. All I did was to gently file the lip of the box and coat the box with graphite/lead pencil and they work fine.

Perhaps I have been lucky but both have the screw tightened up fully as well.

Dave

I have been using KD #148 whisker couplers on the rolling stock. I haven't, as yet, tried to change any of the locos but would imagine KDs would fit.

I got mine from EDM models.

On30 / Re: 0-4-2 Porter electrical pickup problem
March 01, 2012, 02:38:47 PM
I have a DCC, but not sound equipped, Porter 0-4-2 and have the same problem with pickups so I will be very interested to hear any help you may be offered.

Also is it possible to replace the standard decoder with one with BEMF. I have been advised that it isn't but would like to be sure. If you can, how do get the little beastie apart?

Many thanks,
Dave
