Hello can someone tell me what colour wires are for the front light on this loco I have wired up the decoder and need to connect the headlight wires to the decoder the decoder instructions say blue and white but when I remove the light from the boiler the leads are black and red thanks Greg.

Hello Jerry did you get the shay to work it might be the same problem as mine remove the coal bunker and have a look at the boards move the wires you should be able to see if any are loose regards Greg.

Hello and thanks for the replies I didn't connect the two wires from the loco to the right places on the sound board all working now sorry to waste everyones time should have read the instructions properly regards Greg.

Yes I have wired in a separate 9v battery with switch the steam hiss starts when the battery is switched on and a red light shows on the sound board which it does the hiss is there even without connecting to the loco the board is powered by the battery at low voltage I have set the pots to the recommended settings I wonder if the jumpers are not right they are where the instructions say they should be I am out of ideas thanks Greg.

Yes it is Barry I have steam hiss from the board I have connected the red and black wires to the input on the sound board then plugged it into the loco put the loco on rollers it works forward and back but no chuff regards Greg.

Hi everyone I need some help has anyone done this installation I cant get chuff to work have stripped out std board and connected as per instructions my board is the one you use with chuff timers any ideas thanks Greg.

Hello everyone can someone tell me where to connect speaker wires to in the tender of a 4-4-0 I am installing a decoder amd sound  I can see the wires coming from the brass strips do you connect to these thanks Greg.

Hello everyone first thanks to Jon D for the reply and photo well I bit the bullet and attached the two wires and the loco now runs learning all the time just need to trust my ability and have a go regards Greg.

Hello everyone I set up a programming track and reset the decoder still no movement so I removed the coal bunker to look at the circuit boards im a dummy should have done this first to save everyone a lot of trouble the grey and orange motor wires were not connected at all and they were not broken off just never connected from the factory no wonder it wouldnt move is this an easy job or do they have to be soldered on thanks Greg

Thanks Bill for the reply you are very helpfull to a lot of people much appreciated for your advise will let you know how I get on I have bought a NCE power cab with the same result I have all the sounds, headlight and tail light switch on and off and fire box flickers but still no movement regards Greg.
