Williams by Bachmann / Patent's
June 22, 2015, 10:33:03 PM
Are there patents on any railing systems on Williams's trains. I'm looking at a possible replacement for the stations on the old SD-45. Saw the way to rebuild with bobbypins in Classic Model Trains mag. If I find a way to get them made is there a problem with Bachmann. Don't won't to be out of line.

It's not your engines it' the switches.  I have MTH Realtracs and I have worked them to death. They don't hold up. Put additional power pick ups on both ends of your switches. Depending on how old your switches are you will run into other problems. IT'S NOT WILLIAMS!!!!! I have rebuilt most of my switches. A pain in the butt. The only engines that might have a problem are RMT. Pick ups are to close on longer switches. Not on Williams. Check your pick up wires but I think it's you switches.    Bill

I'm not saying the rest have problems out of the box. I'm talking about long run! I have two dead engines that promised to run a long time. I don't mind putting in new e-units and dropping the sound but look at what you pay for! I won't a engine that will run on request Something dependable! WBB gives me that! The price is affordable to enjoy the hobby with out the extra cost for stuff I don't need. I'm just greatful that WBB is on my side!!

I have bought from Marty. Great Williams  Dealer! His deals are good but his help and customer satisfaction is great! I like Williams by Bachmann for what they are, post war Lionel with the newest tech with out the junk. Marty ( MA & PA Junction ) one of the best.
I have no dealers in the area.  Some say they are but carry one or two engines and maybe a passenger set but that's it. I like the internet dealers like Marty! Thats my connection.

I saw the same post on 0 gauge forum. If you go there someone posted links that the real EP-5's had two differant pilots. The one offered by WBB isn't wrong. Just the wrong one for you, ( not trying to be ignorant ). I'm just happy their 6 wheel trucks are right instead of 4 wheel.

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Williams Value?

I did the watch on E-Bay for several that I have and didn't like the return. I think I will stick with replacement cost and not worry about road names that are gone from the cataloge. As fate would have it my daughter's house got broken into this past Tuesday so now I living with the lose of stolen property. Don't understand why this stuff happens.

I couldn't agree more! I work construction and I love the quiet of Williams trains. I can't remember the last time I ran the other brands and thats another problem. Williams by Bachmann run first time and every time out of the box!

I guess that is the only avenue, Thanks Bach Man.
My only concern is the ones not made anymore, Thank goodness no brass. But I have the FM 508 Reading A-B-A, LL 1016 Reading 4 car set, LL1016 CD 2 car set, and SN 204 NYC Cigar Band Sharknose A-B-A. Just value of another road name?

                                                                                       Thanks, Bill

Not that I would ever sell my Williams Trains!!!!!!!!!!!!  But how can you find the value of them? Like for insurance reasons. I have some that are no longer available. How do you know the value?

Williams by Bachmann / Just an observation!

I have noticed on all the forums I go to that there is a lot of people that like Williams now Williams by Bachmann trains and what is not to like! But what is so impressing is how there is almost never a slamming on WBB on all the other forums. If there is a problem it is always a easy fix. The Big Boys as they are referred to I think have missed something. Quality, not in all the fancy stuff, but, in just to keep them running. Yes, I to have bought the others and as they age problems come up and they get pricey to fix with that plug and play or through away mentality. I keep going back to my Williams by Bachmann knowing that they will always work! I love this hobby and as I get older my hearing getting bad all the noise that the others make frustrate me and put me on edge. I know I can turn the sound off, but why pay for all the stuff if you're not going to use it. That also seams to be why the others get bashed. All the expensive hardware. My WBB stable has 2 steam, 2 ABA sets, and 8 other diesel engines and I love them all. Thank you, WBB for a great hobby!

Williams by Bachmann / Re: smoke unit 773

Before replacing the smoke unit. Go to your local hobby shop or any place that would sell .008 brass wire. Turn your engine upside down and gently shake it to get any fluid out. Take the wire and twist it gently into the tibe in the center of the smoke unit. Yes it is a tube not a pin. That will remove any clog you might have. Put back in the right smoke fluid. Lionel is to thick, I use Seuth, its a little expensive but thats the brand smoke unit Williams by Bachmann uses.

I LOVE THE WHISTLE ! The sound is better than the diesel. My wife like it also and thats the first time she has ever commented on any engine I have. My daughter said it sounds like the engine is sad. I guess is does sound lonely. So buy more than one!
