Sorry it took so long to get back.  Been away for a couple weeks

As for the Kadee uncouplers. Other than removing some ties so the unit fits have you made any other adjustments?
Thanks

HO / Uncoupling

Greetings all,
Has anyone used Kadee delayed uncouplers with ez track?

One last thought about the Kadee uncoupler magnets...I watched a few videos of modelers who use them on atlas track
they cut the ties away where the uncoupler is to be placed...
Can I or should do the same with the EZ track?

Sorry for all the questions but it's been years since I've done this.

Thanks !!!

One more question regarding uncouplers.

As I was searching Micro Mark and other suppliers I came across a Rix Uncoupler....anybody have any experience with them regarding kadee or ez mate couplers??

Thank you .

I have orders the coupler gauge and once it comes in I will set about adjusting the couplers.

One more question.. Kadee magnetic uncouplers  placed on the ties as directed or underneath the ez track?

Thanks again.

I have some older freight and passenger cars that I have outfitted with Kadee # 5 couplers.
I recently purchased a few new Bachmann cars with the EZ mate couplers.

They couple to each other very well,

I also have a few kadee magnetic uncouplers,, they work well with the kadee's  but not so much with the EZ Mate.

I know the Bachmann also has a magnetic un coupler that attached to the underside of the EZ Track,,,,

Question is,  do I change from Kadee to all EZ mate or just add the second magnetic uncoupler in the same relative place???

Not sure any of this makes sense

I'd like to thank you gentlemen for your responses and ideas.

You have given me a few things to think about and I do appreciate it.

Thanks again, I'll keep you posted if I decide to build a different layout in the future.
AS I am still negotiating the right of way with the Mrs.

Looks great......

I have purchased some ez track and have been running some old equipment on it

Just a basic oval for now  but now that I have seen this I think I will actually give it the ole college try.

But as I stated in the original post I'm still negotiating the right of way from the Mrs.

Thanks,

Andy

Hi Guys,

Love all the feed back.  It is nice to have a place to go to  learn new things and draw on others expertise.

While I am on here about restarting in the hobby, what is your take on the EZ Command DCC?

How is it to convert older dc locos to dcc?

Wow,

I really started something here...
Was definitely not my intent

I have limited space and that is what the original post was about.

But I am intrigued by the responses.  I have truly enjoyed them all.

Got a lot of ideas for doing a few things.

But L:ike I said in an earlier post, real estate must be negotiated with the Mrs.

So I am going to revive some of my older equipment and actually put up a small oval on the rug  (I know I'll go to train hell for that)
and see what is still running and get things up to snuff.
Them probably build a few building kits to get the feel of it all again.

While on the subject  some of but not most of my equipment has kadee couplers.  Any suggestions on that?

Thanks to all who have posted.
There are some good points in all of them.

This will be an ambitious task, as I try and negotiate real estate from the Mrs.

I believe while in deliberation some model building will take place first.

I am open to any and all suggestions that anyone may have.

Thanks again.

So it would seem that 5 x 9 would work better, than 4 x 8 ?

If I may ask what radius did you use on the layout?

General Discussion / Gorre and Daphetid Layout
February 26, 2016, 08:50:42 PM
Greetings,

After many many years away from the hobby, the bug has seemingly bit again.

I have always dreamed of doing a model of John Allen's Gorre and Daphetid Railroad. The one published in 101 Track plans

Now I see that EZ track is available and can take some of the work out of track laying.

My question; would it be possible to build that layout in a 4 x 8 space using EZ track?

Thanks for any advice.

Andy
