Large / New 2-6-0 Mogul Electrical Connections
August 14, 2017, 01:13:49 PM
It appears to me that there are three ways to connect control devices to the "Emma Nevada" and like engines.  The first is plug-and-play by removing the analog jumper and inserting the control board.  The second is by using the provided plug in board with pigtail leads.  The third is leaving the two provided plug in boards out and using the solder connections located down the side of the base board.  Is that correct?

Can someone point me to where I can find an owners manual or a lubrication instruction sheet for the new "Emma Nevada" 2-6-0 Mogul?

Large / E-Z Command 5 Amp Power Booster
June 30, 2017, 12:03:38 PM
Will the Power Booster operate on it's own as an 18 Volt power source for a static display controlled by Bluetooth?  Or, is input from a controller necessary in conjunction with the Booster?

Thanks Kevin!  I thought that was the way it worked but I wasn't sure.

Large / Bluetooth Smart Train Control
June 28, 2017, 05:11:15 PM
I'd like to add Bluetooth train control to a static Emma Nevada train display.  The coal cars and the two accompanying passenger cars will rest on the track.  The engine will rest on jacks and not contact the rails.  Therefore the motor will only have slight current draw.  I believe that the motor stall current is not a factor.  The blue tooth unit I've been looking at has a maximum voltage of 24 Volts DC and a maximum current of 2 Amps.

I'm considering the Bachmann 5 Amp power booster as the power source for my track.  The booster appears to have two voltage choices, 14 Volts and I can't read the second.  I don't understand the match on the amperage requirements.  Since the Bachmann booster is 5 Amps does that mean it's too hot for a 2 Amp Bluetooth decoder?

Large / Passenger Car Population
November 29, 2016, 12:20:44 PM
I have seen mention of a putty-like adhesive material to place passengers in cars.  The stuff was supposed to be strong enough to hold figures in place but removable if you had to change things.  Does anyone know a name or source?

So look down the tracks and there's a headlight there.  The anticipation is awful!

Odd that the Bachmann Online Store still shows "Emma Nevada"  as the only one of the new 2-6-0's as "Coming Soon".

September 22, 2016, at 10:21 AM is the official start of fall.  I've been looking down the tracks and I haven't seen "Emma Nevada" rushing to meet her summer arrival at the station.

See "Shipping Delays" in the General Forum.  The answer was that there was no impact.

Support my interest in model railroading?  I think she likes the trains to keep me out of the way!

Oh, it's a long, long while from May to December
But the days grow short when you reach September
When autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time for the waiting game!

General Discussion / Shipping Delays?
September 08, 2016, 01:16:54 AM
I wonder in the Hanjin Shipping bankruptcy is going to affect any of the "Coming Soon" merchandise or Christmas stock?  Hanjin Shipping is one of the largest shipping companies in the world and handles almost 10% of the transpacific cargo.
