One of the biggest engineering challenges with daisy is getting the eye mechanism and I personally think it would be easier to make they eye mechanism turn as her bogies turn instead of just turning back and forth in a rhythm... and it would make it a little more realistic, making sense as to what her eyes are looking at. Just an idea...

I have a hunch that Bachmann has learned their lesson with announcing things too early. LS Diesel was cancelled and people are getting antsy over the upcoming products and how long they're taking, maybe they've set themselves with the idea that they should atleast have a prototype and be prepared to manufacture it before they announce a product, which would explain why we haven't gotten any Narrow Guage stuff the last 2 years, they're waiting because Rusty is taking so long.
Just a thought.

No I don't think they would do that, especially since they're not named. They'd probably do the mainland diesels before they even tried that, mainly because I remember at least one being named. I can't remember any recolored former steam team members getting names, but maybe I'm wrong. As well, none of them would sell well because people don't really care about them and they wouldn't sell. Paxton exists because he has a character and a name.

Stay safe, the worst in my area right now is flooding, and even that's starting to go down. Better to be safe than sorry.

It wouldn't surprise me if Bachmann did make Duncan's model based on Douglas as Jam Filled has expressed an interest in fixing some of the models in the series.
Can you point me to where they said this? I'd like to read/hear what they said, especially since it means we'll get corrected CGI models!

This is what I could find with rudimentary googling, but I swear they specifically said that they would change the models after they got the dimensions. In the meantime I'm sure you can make a pretty good guess by them saying "will be passed on to the modeling team", and from what I can see from the pictures on the site, Bachmann's models are based off the model series ones.

Well they could always ask ThomasTankMerch...! ;)
What do you mean, "you could always ask ThomasTankMerch..!"?

ThomasTankMerch is on twitter and they just bought and received the original Season 4 Sir Handel. They also have Jack and The Pack scale Trevor, a few faces, and some rolling stock from the show.

https://mobile.twitter.com/ThomasTankMerch

They could also go to cudak888 who just finished his replica Sir Handel about a week or so ago. In fact, at first some people thought this was cudak's because he just packaged it up and apparently shipped it somewhere after he had finished it. But no, ThomasTankMerch does have the real season 4 Sir Handel. Funnily, cudak is the one who sent Jam Filled the measurements of the original coaches while he was vacuforming his modified version of the (if I remember correctly) season 3 coaches. He's also building a James replica, and James would complain if he had to pull dirty trucks.

They already promised a corrected coach model, I don't see why they wouldn't proceed to making Duncan look better. But that's just speculation, but look, the new coaches aren't based of their ugly CGI counterparts, so who knows really.
Just food for thought.

Terence is that your own OO Stepney? He looks very good! I had to look several times to realize he wasn't a metal toy engine.
He literally said it was the show model.

Like I know what a show model means.
The model actually used on the show. As in that is THE Stepney. Oh and, an update on Sir Hadyn, they got a fire built up today, as long as he runs ok he'll be at the Talyllyn soon.

Around season 4 or 5 the crew took shots like these of all of the engines they had. It's how so many people are now able and willing to make replicas of the models used on the show. One guy has a replica Thomas, he's making Gordon as we speak. Another is making Henry and yet another is making James. They use these images to make sure it's accurate.

Thomas & Friends / Re: OFFICIAL 2018 ANNOUNCEMENTS

Im going to try to keep this positive.

I'm excited to get Gordon's Express coaches. I have Gordon who had to pull the red coaches, it doesn't look right, I was thinking about getting Bachmann Branchline coaches but now I don't have to.
Also, it'd be silly to change the tooling of the coaches, because the Jam Filled twitter account revealed they'd be fixing the coach models so they'd better resemble the coaches from the model series, instead of the skinny ones that require two models due to being so small, so they can get good interior shots. Point being, there's no point in changing the mold, if it'll go right back soon. Plus it saves money. So I'm pretty sure it'll just be a re-release of the old ones, maybe with an updated paint scheme. I wonder how many I'll get?

Also very excited for the NG Coaches, I don't have a very steady hand so painting the shapeways models would be very difficult for me.

As for Grumpy Deisel, I'm suprised they did this instead of and updated Thomas or Percy. Those two are flagship models for the range and people always have to modify them to get them to look right. We definitely need new faces for them. But it's nice to see official alternate faces, I'll still probably get the shapeways faces for certain characters, but who knows, maybe we'll get a cheeky Thomas or something in the future.

I'm also excited to see the Spiteful Brakevan come over to HO. It seemed odd to have such a simple piece make it into large scale but not HO.

We know bachmann looks at the forum, as they've mentioned it before in a video where they showed off Rheneas and Rosie. So Daisy will probably be brought up in their talks with Mattel at some point. Who knows, maybe they can rig up the eye mechanism so that it follows the tracks as she turns a corner, through the movement of the bogies. Only time will tell. But those are my thoughts on the matter.

He's still here, he just hasn't posted in a while. He probably just doesn't feel the need to post anything right now, so he doesn't. But I'll leave it to him to comment on why. Just know he's not gone, not yet atleast.

I've got the exact same problem with my John Bull set. If you could post what you find works for it that'd be amazing. It bothers me even when it's static in my yard.

do they have one that smells like coal smoke?

Evidently this company has a bottle that smells exactly like a Union Pacific.

I've never used it myself so I couldn't tell you if it works, but somebody makes it.

Hello to All:
Chaz Your mine scene is an inspiration to all of us showing what can be done in HOn30 or OO9 for those in the UK. I was especially happy to see your Duke loco again.

For those of you that have posted about issues with Rheneas mine looks perfectly fine to me with no warping or paint issues, just lucky I guess.

I just had an opportunity to prime all of the castings for my Mighty Mac project and with some more warmer weather I hope to get the painting finished this week. My brass plates are also due soon from Narrow Planet.

As soon as I can figure out why my photos are not posting correctly I will post more when the painting is done. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong with Flikr?

On another note I wanted to take the time to thank Chaz for starting this thread. I think this is one of the most helpful and informative threads going here. Another modeler on the HO threads was talking about the lack of project related posts over there so we are lucky to have so many modelers sharing information over here.

So Happy New Year to You All,
Grandpuff

I've been using TinyPic, and it's been working flawlessly. You can upload any picture from your phone's album for instance. http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload . I don't even have an account. For instance, here's one of your photos I took from your Flickr.

Hope this helps.

Seems weird that Bachmann can't just send the Talyllyn Railway an email for blueprints/measurements of Sir Haydn if they really want to make Sir Handel. I'm sure they would comply/come to a deal if it meant getting another RTR model of one of their engines. To add, many photo references exist, and there's the Corris Railway locomotives as well they could get measurements from.
I know from experience that modeling things based solely on reference pictures is extremely difficult. When ever I model something I either try to get great side and front picture or blueprints of some sort. Sir Handle wouldn't be as accurate if they just used reference pictures. So they would either need to take the measurements themselves or get blueprints from who will most likely be the Corris Railway.

Can't wait to see him! I'm sure he's a lovely model!
