HO / Locomotive doesn't move
August 14, 2017, 07:27:04 PM
Hi there,

I recently purchased a brand new Bachmann SD40-2 CSX DCC Sound Value locomotive. The locomotive worked great when I first got it. I used it twice for about a total of 10 minutes, then reboxed it. Everything worked fine. I later tried it and now the locomotive doesn't move at all. However, sound and lights still work.

There's no short on the track, and other locomotives work just fine on the track. Voltage is good too. Locomotive simply won't move no matter what I do.

Any help or suggestions?

Thanks so much guys. I've got all your sites bookmarked. I found a Bachmann DCC SD40-2 in CSX colors on sale at modeltrainstuff for $59.99. Immediately snatched it up! I got a 1" x 1" bluetooth speaker for $10 to put in the first rolling stock train car and I figured for now I'll use the model train sounds app to get sounds. Eventually down the road I will shell out the money for a DCC with sound loco, but since I'm just starting in the hobby I want to work my way up.

Thanks for the reply ACY. That's exactly what I was looking for. I think I will go with the DCC/Sound CSX SD40-2. Do you recommend any specific places online to buy them since they're only $20 more?

HO / Question about SD40-2
April 15, 2017, 01:20:57 PM
Hi all,

I was looking at a SD40-2 online and found this one (already been sold but looking at similar ones).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BACHMANN-HO-SCALE-SD-40-2-DIESEL-SANTA-FE-5043-ENGINE-LOCOMOTIVE-MODEL-RAILROAD-/361886217703?nma=true&si=jbKAtBkv%252FKrzLF7n1S61NRIx8AE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Does anyone know anything about this specific Bachmann SD40-2? Is it DC or DCC? Does it run well? A

Also, if I purchase one of these, will the Bachmann shells at the following link work if I want to change out the original Santa Fe shell? Also, will it work on Bachmann EZ track with the DC controller?

Thanks!

HO / DC and DCC questions
November 15, 2016, 01:33:57 PM
Hi gents,

I just purchased my first train set. I bought the Bachmann Challenger trainset that is DC powered (analog). It comes with EZ Track and the newer speed controller that can connect to the EZ Command Control Center. I am wondering if the EZ track in this train set is DCC ready. Meaning, if I buy a EZ Command Control Center, Can I plug it in and start using multiple DCC trains at once? Or do I need to upgrade my EZ track to make it DCC ready?

Here is a link to the Challenger set I bought: http://www.hobbylinc.com/bachmann-challenger-set-ho-scale-model-train-set-00621?source=froogle&gclid=CjwKEAiAgavBBRCA7ZbggrLSkUcSJACWDexAz_24E_EO8PkI-DT3j_zPB4f39Sxce-BxJ-jlb9YqZhoC7Mjw_wcB
