HO / Re: Height of each pier in 14 and 18 piece sets

Thank you JWard.  Using Anyrail gives varying clearances depending upon track pieces used. Needed this info for optional items I want to use with these piers.

Thank You

Len, Question, AnyRail labels short tracks sections as:
44592-1 3/4"
44592-2 1"
44592-3 1 1/4"
44592-4 1 1/2"
44592-5 2"

In your image 1-2-4 ladder with crossovers, I see them lettered A-E.
Should I take for granted E = 3/4" and B 1 1/2"?

My grandson asked me if he ever made a layout large enough to need a booster amp (we use MRC) could he use
9" EZ Track power terminal tracks with insulated gap.  My answer was yes since it would the same as if you were installing on
a reverse loop. I believe I am correct with this line of thinking.

General Discussion / Re: Bachmann Auto Reverse system
December 07, 2018, 03:18:16 PM
I believe I have stumbled upon the answer.

The HO Scale autoreverse system comes with a WW model:
AC1601000
Input AC120V 60Hz 24W
Output AC16V 1000mA 16VA

The On30 Autoreverse (Village Street Car) unit comes with a smaller WW model unit:
SPA1601000WU
Input AC120V 60Hz 22W
Output DC16V 1000mA 16VA

I used what I believed was a DC MTA NYC Transit R-17 Loco on the HO AR track
Wonder if this is the reason why Loco would not run and Reverse controller now only works in one direction
when before both worked as they normally should.

Never got that far Terry.  The track was working with trolley, no problem.  Put just the locomotive unit from the Proto 1000 and lights go on, no movement.  Put loco back on my DC test layout, directional lights work, no movement.  Put the trolley on the auto reverse track, movement in one direction only.  I have a second auto reverse controller which worked fine.  Did not try my luck putting the Proto 1000 on the auto reverse track with the 2nd auto reverse controller.

General Discussion / Bachmann Auto Reverse system
December 04, 2018, 11:31:05 AM
Will the auto reverse system work with any DC locomotives?  I tried using a Walthers Proto 1000 NYC Subway R-17 but the unit would not run. Directional lights did, no movement. The speed controller now works in one direction only. Both did work before I tried using them together. Anyone experience with the Auto Reverse system and Locos which will work?

Thank You

Donald

I lived 125th and Broadway and watched the #1 pass by all the time.  My mother worked EJ Korvette during the time you were there until she moved on to NY Telephone.  I loved watching the #1 pass thru the Elevated station.

That image from our 17th floor apartment is what I now want to add to
my grandsons layout.

So Terry and Len, here is the deal

Grandchildren like Grandfather love NYC Subways. They want to build a layout based on it.

Oldest grandson says we could built one with configurations of the many 2 track, 3 track and
And 4 track stations. He wants it based on the IRT (A-Division) stations.

He suggested either a point to point or his really big idea a circular system with the different
Station configurations placed around the layout.

So one of these weekends we will load Anyrail on the computer and see what we come with.

Ok, guess I should explain, my grandchildren would like to mimic the NYC Subway System.  Oldest one presented the idea to make station stops for each configuration of station stops in the system in a giant loop layout.

I said there are 472 stations, that is a lot of different configurations.  He laughed and said no grandpa
that would be crazy.  We could make 2 tracks stations, 3 track stations and 4 track stations without all the extra curves and misaligned station configurations.

Once I thought about it, I understood the concept of what they wanted.  Basically, there are 2 types of 2 track stations in
NYC Subways IRT Division, 2 type of 3 track stations and 3 types of 4 track stations on the lines they wish made into this layout.

So one weekend soon we will AnyRail a layout and make sure we have what we need to make this come to life.

Once configured in Anyrail I hope I am allowed to Post here in the forums if that is possible.
