I have an old Lionel 6020 tender. Can I replace the old Lionel whistle with a Williams whistle/bell unit?

I brought the GG1 to Ridgefield Hobby Shop. There they checked it out, lubed and adjusted this classic. It is running like new!

How do you know if traction tires have worn out on my GG1 and should be replaced?

Williams by Bachmann / Re: GG1 engine won't run!

The GG1 that gave me all that trouble with its strange noises, slow running, etc has given me another surprise. I oiled the gears and cleaned the wheels, and then packed it away. I recently reopened the box and placed it on the track. To my surprise and relief, it is running quietly and smoothly. I can't explain how this happened, but it's running well.

Williams by Bachmann / GG1 engine won't run!
December 28, 2011, 01:01:01 AM
I unpacked my semi scale Williams GG1 from storage, removed the cardboard packing, put it on the track, and you guessed it, it won't run! The engine's horn "squacks"  and the engine barely moves. I tried it with my CW80 and with the ZW and got the same results, it doesn't run. I don't know if the engine is running without lubrication. I am at a loss. Can it be repaired?? Please help me get my favorite engine back on the rails

Williams by Bachmann / Diesel Switcher bell

Is it possible to replace the bell in the diesel switcher engine with a horn/bell combination? Is it an easy replacement or is soldering, etc involved?

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Williams looks cartoon like.

My experience with Williams trains is a good one; the engines and rolling stock are either scale or semi scale in size. There are some items which have stamped railings rather than wire, which is similar to postwar Lionel. It probably wouldn't add too much to the cost for Williams to replace these toy-like features to make them more realistic. The number of railroads represented is fantastic; you can put together a consist with almost any engine. In conclusion, I feel that Williams is the way to go for reasonably priced realism, without the electronics which add many dollars to the cost of a model railroad.

When I run my Berkshire using a Lionel CW80 transformer, the bell and whistle work, it smokes OK, but doesn't reverse. Is it a transformer issue, or the engine?

Williams by Bachmann / Williams trains inclusion
December 21, 2007, 11:52:58 AM
Greetings from mikemarxs.
I am an old Lionel train collector who discovered that Williams trains ran better and gave less grief than Lionel postwar engines that I had been collecting and running. My question is when will your Emails begin to include the Williams items? I am hoping that Bachmann will keep the good trains available and not do anything to reduce their quality and relatively uncomplicated running ability.
