This is embarrassing. ::) I forgot about this post. It was all my fault. Guess I'm not the genius I thought I was. They traced it down to my poor wiring and a faulty sound card I guess. They didn't explain what or why the did what they did on the work order. But I'm grateful they fixed my problem. They did more than the $55 dollar fee. That was cheap for what they did. I think they are the greatest. :)

I recently asked the Parts Dept;

I have lost several screws that attach the 6-wheel trucks to the frame of the 60' (Semi Scale) Madison Passenger Cars. I didn't see replacement screws listed on your parts page for these passenger scars. Do you have these screws in stock or do you have the specs where I can find replacement screws.

Their Reply;

I am sorry to say Bachmann does not have any cars to even give you the dimension of the screw.
Go onto the Ask the Bachmann Forum to see what they can suggest for you.

Does anyone know where I can find screws that can fit the bill?  ???

Thanks, John

It seems that from the number of downloads that my fellow "Engineers" are enjoying the information. I hope to add several more catalogs/flyers soon.

Thanks JP and Joe for your replies,

I tried all I could with what little I know and then sent the loco to Service Dep. last week. I hope to know something soon. I checked everything from the transformer to the speaker several times. I suspect it's either a faulty sound unit, maybe the reverse board, or maybe I need to upgrade my operating equipment...... I'm betting it's me.

Will let you know as soon as I do.

Thanks, John

Recently upgraded my old Williams GG-1 with the new reverse board. Works great. Then I installed a new True Blast II sound board. Works great (I am impressed with the quality sound) ..... sitting still. It only plays sounds in neutral. Not while it's running. Have I done something wrong?

Is there a way to get my GG-1 to run and chew gum at the same time.  ???
Or is it just made that way?  :(

Thanks, John

Williams Electric Trains Catalogs and Flyers Online!

I have scanned and converted all of my Williams catalogs and flyers, 53 in all so far, beginning with the 1972 advertisement in the May issue of The TTOS Bulletin and ending with the Williams 2006 catalog. It has taken some time to do but I'm sure some of you Williams fans will enjoy them. I have also included some assembly instruction sheets for some early passenger kits. These are PDFs are full size scans of B&W and color originals. Some are very large files. The 1992 Williams Passenger Car Bonanza (Foldout) PDF is 130MB so I hope you have broadband or greater connection. There are a few, 6 or so, that are cover pages and only 1MB or less. These PDFs are download only and not available for viewing online.

This collection is not complete as I have more to scan. But it may never be complete as I stopped collecting and I'm running out of space. There are still more out there that I haven't collected. When this is done they are going to the dump unless some kind collector wants to take them off my hands.

If you have items that are not on the list and would like to contribute to it please let me know on this forum. Just copy-n-paste this link into your favorite browser, download and enjoy. :)

Bachmann or Williams?

To all,

I just upgraded my old Williams kit-made semi-scale GG-1 to include a Williams #249 reverse board with lockout  ;D only to discover that the # 245 Diesel Digital True Blast II Sound Unit has been discontinued :'(. It was the only one available (then) with just the bell & horn. Haven't found one anywhere. Has anyone had experience using a 3rd party sound unit with this board.

Thanks, John

By the way, the board works perfectly too. ;D

The answers to all our questions lie with Kader Holdings Co. (which owns Bachmann & others). Their goals and objectives in the model train industry will dictate what we'll eventually see or not see. Maybe they'll make Neil Young and his Partners an offer they can't refuse.

No Semi GG-1? :(
No Passenger cars? :o
No RTR sets? :-[
No...... Oh my!  :'(

It took only 3-4 years for Lionel to drop K-line.

Is Williams slowly disappearing too?

Williams by Bachmann / Re: Reverse Board with Lockout

Thanks Tom. That's good news. I'd still like to know why Bachmann removed it from the web site.  Now another question. I see what appears to be 8 "sockets" (don't know what else to call'em) on the board. After you plug in the power, motor(s), lock-out and possibly a sound module (that leaves 3 or 4), what else can you attach, plug in? What are they? Very little info on the web about these.

Thanks for all the info, JohnB

Speaking of the reverse board with lockout, where has it gone? Was thinking about getting one, #249, but it ain't (for emphasis only) there. Was there a problem with it? Found # 247 in the online store but, ??? Is it being replaced? Will it come back? Don't like buying 3rd party electronics unless from a bona fide dealer. What say you?

WOW! You're the coolest. 8) I should have looked there first. The online store didn't have this info. Thanks a bunch.

I saw that but, I should have been more specific in my question. They do show dimensions for HO gauge but not for N or O. In my question I should have asked for dimensions of "O" gauge kits or build-ups. They only show weights for "O" gauge.

Thanks, JohnB

Planning a new layout and want to use Plasticville throughout but hit a roadblock as to dimensions. My layout software doesn't have a Plasticville 2D library.  ??? Where can I find a list of all or some of Plasticville's structures?

Bach Man? ::)

Thanks, JohnB
