Thanks Jay!

Ahhhh, so if I still have a couple sets of brass joiners waiting to be used still (or acquire),  .....great chance of the crossing being seen in the future somewheres on the PSRB rwy !    LoL

Doug

p.s. time to get rollin', ..... maybe pop over to the vendor first as they close within 1.5hrs, but of course first layer up sufficiently for the -30c temps today (& tomorrow) !   ::)  :D

Another reason,  I asked was that it was one of the "Bachmann Large scale" items that was mrkd down 50%, at a local vendor four days ago.

Will be dropping by again hopefully today, as part of my shopping circuit. See if it is still available.  :-)

On a vendors webpage, they state "This product is only compatible with Bachmann Steel Alloy Track"

Has anyone successfully upgraded it to brass track (swap out the steel'),  or configured it electrically(?) to work with brass ?

Thanks

Thanks Greg .

Late last night, it finally came to mind that, .... don't I have an original Aristo' Evans ?

So down I went .... And yes it was 'hiding' back within the northern depot railyard,  my CN 283000 (also the box was underneath, CART555004 which meant it was a special run via H'C'Canada... possibly one of the 'sample' units, unsanctioned by Lewis back-in-the-day) !

With well-detailed 'solid' side walls.

Doug

p.s.
Bill, FYI the Aristo' DD 40' steel box cars, open wide !

ex. eight-USN acq'd back when Lewis had a clearance sale of the special military run (factory-installed shiny metal wheels) also with the 'new' open roof walks.   Personally went for them, as they had the least amount of decals to remove, in future 'rwy aquisition' projects in the g-gauge world    ;-)

No mention in their online features listing,  so presume manufacturers' design group were unable to feasibly or economically design the model with opening doors  !?

Have any of the manufacturers of a 'plug-style'door rolling stock unit, ever been successful ?

Do you have the Bachmann p/n to share ?
Or possible link to it within their parts catalog ?

Thinking I'll be popping into one of local vendors that I've noticed in past with a few diff. B'mann parts. So ...

. . . " Canada's LARGEST Model Train Show " ;

SUPERTRAIN 2023 ======>  http://supertrain.ca/

April 15th 0900 MDT,  when the doors open to allow the line-up to enter to participate in the first day of what I also label as 'our' 'International All Scales Train Show",  it will have been approx. 1460 days since 'our' previous SUPERTRAIN  !

~ Organizers/Hosts >  C M R S  membership volunteers > https://supertrain.ca/About.html

~ 2023 Exhibitors, listings & floor plan >   https://supertrain.ca/Exhibitors-D.html
(best to tap on 'here.' which take ya to *.pdf-based listing, as 'Floor plan' only shows acronym of exhibitor)

~  General Info >  https://supertrain.ca/Info.html
( which also includes access to the fantastic 'collage' SUPERTRAIN poster,  said to be created by the wife of 'our' committee chair', ....and gives ya an opportunity to assist in advert' this comeback show yr. by printing off _?,  and finding regional community interest bulletin board(s) to post it on.     So far {as a free-lance ST' show promoter LoL} I've personally printed off,  and posted 6 within north central Calgary, with likely at least another 3 to print/post, me thinks. 8-)            This yr we're hoping also the exhibitors (& anyone else) will want to assist with this promo' activity,  since the past 3 yrs. with no shows 'our' society bank acc't got beaten up so only accessed from a printer contractor,  a couple hundred handouts vs 1000s and maybe a couple dozen posters for committee member CIBB postings !     Thanks for your help, or at least consideration.  8-)

!  ~ The regional G-gauge railway club 'RMGR' of course is back, their layout will be about a third smaller than normal but they will be there !
(typically larger layouts will be smaller since due to 'our' bank acc't casualty, it was decided to reduce the show footprint by a third, which saved CMRS 50% in typical 'footprint' rental cost for this 'comeback' year !!
~ The private individual 'Big Boy' display is back again.
~ Piko Corp. rep'  is unable to make it up here this yr. within the booth of their vendor of choice w/confirmation to my email query by Piko sales rep';
" We won't be at Supertrain this year, but I know Johnny and crew will put on a good showing " > HobbyTech Canada - a local vendor of Piko & LGB  !
~ Last week, I reached out to AccuCraft sales via email since they have attended ST' in the past,  to ask if they were embedded with a vendor,  but they still have no one responding to emails yet   tsk tsk  ;-)

~ Eight 'Food Trucks' to access refreshments and food stuffs,  again this yr.  8-)

~ Also no bus shuttle service this year.    So still on-site free parking, but the access line will be busier than
previous yrs. !!
Even I may not find a spot offsite, further away 'cross the street where  members/volunteers/exhibitors are instructed to park,  to allow the general admission public closer prkg.
So I may also opt' ====> to take a train to a train show  8-) ....
CalgaryTransit LightRailTransit (adult $3.60cdn one way) to the last station "SaddleTowne" on the CT 'BlueLine', which is less than a direct 15min. stroll to the Genesis Centre 'SUPERTRAIN' venue.
https://www.calgarytransit.com/content/t...asses.html
I would park in one of the designated 'free' slots at their  McKnight-Westwinds LRT station parking lot (first station to the south of 'SaddleTowne' to catch a train to the show' venue station.
https://www.calgarytransit.com/content/t.../home.html
Trip Planner > tested using 'McknightWestWindsLRT'  To  'GenesisCentre falconridge' > Date (apr 15) + possible depart time (ex. 830am)> LRT icon > Plan your trip icon  =   0845am Train 202    with the stroll from SaddleTowne Station  be at the show entrance moments after 0900 am !
I also tried the bus option but with the stops & least one transfer to another bus(route) and at least 10min. longer even, if they are all on sched' and ya wish to view the neighbourhood by road  vs train !?
I'll be personally going with the train option from the McKnight-Westwinds option,  if need be !!    8-)

This show is going to be slightly different,    but still a whole lot of 'Fun for All Ages '  !!

This may work for ya, as it is the link to the webpage version of what they sent out to us folks,  on their email'mailing list !

https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Add-Some-BIG-Modern-Power-To-Your-Large-Scale-Railroad-.html?soid=1115574866827&aid=qzOuvnrVz5I

Hope it works for ya .

nite,
Doug C

p.s. I tested the link after posting, and it did work for me but I did use the same 'device'   ;-)

p.p.s.   I tend to stay away from any secondary links with yahoo embedded, since they were hacked a couple times a few yrs back, and fellow (friend) local G-gauge enthusiast had his email addy address book compromised 'cause of that, and the bad actors still try to suck us in by sending questionable emails allegedly from him.      He passed away (rip) a couple yrs after his email acc't was compromised.... so I always tag them 'spam'.

Yep!  I saw their email early p.m.  It was great to hear it was finally being rolled out again with possibly a couple upgrades !

Ultimately though after viewing further, I tapped 'reply' and just to 'vent' sent them;

"Too bad for you ya left out,   CANADIAN NATIONAL Railway,    BCRail,  CPRailway,   !!

jkay ;

You may already be aware,   and  the info (he compiled/authored)  does go back to previous 2010,   but maybe George S.  (now archived)  pages may have something useful  for you !

p.s. suggest posting your  future G gauge threads in the  "Large"  discussion sub-board  where it would ah likely been noticed sooner by the regular board users.   ;)

General Discussion / Re: the 2018 SUPERTRAIN
March 24, 2018, 12:10:38 AM
As I implied w/o getting into details at the time . . . . . thru direct personal correspondence with a PIKO principal 4 months back, they would be at ST'18 embedded as they were last yr.    And there is a 'uTube vid from 2017 showing their decent sized booth space !

The manufacturers that Sid listed may not be big in G-gauge as you indicate personal preference but for the scales they manufacture for,  they are 'big' !
And as he also implied it can take the 'big' manufacturers a while to figure out where is Calgary ,Canada   !!  ;)

p.s. accucraft, aristocraft have fd their way at least once in the past and for both they were embedded within  a vendor booth displaying/selling their wares.   They have to do this, to get around rules/regulations regards selling directly and negatively impacting their vendors at the show.

p.p.s.
i wasn't picking on B'mann just pointing out (a personal observation) since for  at least the previous 3 yrs.,  they have had a seperate booth !!
