Thanks Dave,

I switched to long archbar trucks for the bus bash, but it allways handy to have a couple of the standard trucks on the shelf.

steam wise: the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes RR 2-6-2 either #23 or #24

diesel wise: a large diesel, White Pass & Yukon Route RR #98 or #103

coach wise: an open excursion coach on the standard under frame

Top of the list is the 2-6-2, and from what I read on the Internet not only on my list ;)

On30 / add on sound for the 2-6-6-2 ?

Is there an add-on sound unit for sale for the 2-6-6-2 just as for the 2-4-4-2 ?

When I looked in the tender it seems ready for one, but I can't find any on the Internet.

w fr greetings, Leo.

On30 / Re: Railbus gears

Rob,

Bachmann got some nice news out a couple of days ago, I expect them to publish it either here or somewhere on their website.

I would wait just a bit before buying new gears  ;)

The railbus is a nightmare gear wise :-(((

I just unpacked sets 10, 11 and 12 and one set 'runs' sort of, the 2nd set only struggles forward and the 3rd set just sits there imitating a bad coffee grinder. Out of the 12 sets I bought in the last 3 years over 2/3 of the buses had defective gears.

I use the sets as a basis for kitbashing and it is a shame that I expect them to be defective !!!

That said, they're wonderful models, not only appearance wise but also the way they are made. Pity the gears are lousy !

Bachmann must know about this, but the railbus sets keep on beeing sold as they are :-(

My 2 Shays and 2 Climaxes are in the proces of beeing re-geared with aftermarket gears, the original ones were as 'good'as the railbus ones.

Living in The Netherlands makes returning them a costly affair, so I opt for the bashing way out.

On30 / How-to for replacing Climax and Shay gears ?

My 2 Climax and 2 Shay loco's now all have defective gears (after minimal running  >:( )

I found out the service department has replacement gears, but is there a how-to on replacing them somewhere ?

cheers, Leo
