Bill,  are you the William Canelos from Truxton whose "Battery Packs Demystified" article appeared in the December 2012 Garden Railways?

If you are, it's a great article and seems to be a much better solution thatn buying li-Ion packs from Aristo that go bad.

I do have one question about the GTL 5,300mAh batteries.  I found them on eBay, and like your article said, the vendor says they do not have built in PCB protection.  But said, after opening one up that they really do.  How can you tell that it was built into the metal enclosure?    ???

I have a very old set and am in need of parts for the engine.  I believe it was a #90020 set.

Are parts still available for this engine?

Are there any parts drawings avalable to facilitate identification of which parts are needed?

Great, any additional information you can give as to the actual re-wiring of the enging? Did you also add a switch to be able to go back to track power?

I hope to build my AirWire into a box car with batteries.  This will enable me to be able to use it with other engines.

I have a new Bachmann (#81099, undecoratd) 4-6-0 Anniversary Edition locomotive with tender and chuff sound built in. I would like to convert it to be able to run from battery power with an AirWire.  The batteries would be in a box car, so that the setup can be used with different engines.

Has anyone done this?  I would appreciate any clues as to the wiring changes needed to make this work.
