So you are using 60 to 72 inch diameter since diameter is twice the radius. That is getting close to what I use with some set ups on my Garden railroad [ G Scale ]. I use anywhere from 7ft to 9ft on the G Scale.

Isn't diameter two times the radius?

Then that would be a 44 inch diameter is that correct? Seems real big for a HO set up. I thought that I had seen somewhere that
they would work on a 32 diam turn. If the diameter is that large I guess the two HO 2-8-4's I have are of no use to me.

What is the smallest diameter turn I can use with the Bachmann HO 2-8-4 Berkshire Steam with tender?

I tell my self to stop trusting people and test before I buy so I guess I will start listening to myself and at 82 you would think I would know better. I will try your suggestion and thanks for the quick reply.

HO / Dummy Plug for removing DCC
January 10, 2016, 09:42:23 AM
Goofed again bought a engine at the big train show in Richmond Ca. Supposed to be a brand new unit never on the track. Took it home tried to run it nothing worked. Would not run with my NCE system. Do not know if it is the decoder or the engine so I am removing the decoder. What I need is the wiring for the dummy plug where the decoder would normally plug in. It is a Bachmann item # 50949 HO 2-8-4 Berkshire Steam Loco Tender [DCC]. Thanks for any help. Dick

Are there any plans for the sound to come from the locomotive on board such as other sound decoders?

Am I reading the information correctly that the sounds only come through the cell phone or do the units have there own installed speaker?

Yep I understand that but they are all mainly built to one code for color code wires and such so it would be nice just to know if the unit you are buying falls in that category. Most of the Artistcraft units I have ever converted it was a matter of unplug and plug in your unit. Took longer to take it apart than to convert it. I will give Bachmann a call tomorrow and gets some help. Thanks for the reply.

Large / Bachmann 3 Truck Shay

Well this is pretty much my first experience with buying a new Bachmann engine and so far the experience has not been great I have had other Bachmann engines but they were always used with everything installed.
First thing I noticed is they do not come with a good instruction book as I have seen from other manufactures, second it states DCC ready and there is no instruction on how to connect a DCC system.  The Engine I bought is a 3 Truck Shay. Does any one have the instructions for installing the DCC system? They do have a few sheets of parts diagrams along with a CD that tells you some history and the lubrication method which is great. HELP :-[

Mine is the DCC ready model no sound yet. By the end of next week it will have both. I did notice that the information was not for the Shay. I was kind of used to Aristocraft they had good manuals with all of there products. I did get a CD with the unit but all it really shows is how to lube it.
